can't find vboost servo.

My bolts are pretty stripped and are also pretty tight. Anyone have some suggestions to removing these and once they are removed a good source for Allen type bolts to replace these? Does anti-seize help this unstick?

Second question, to stick the Vboost on fulltime, you pull the round plug off the vboost controller when the vboost is completely open. However, I've been unable to find out how to re-enable the vboost. I've pulled off my faux cover on the side with the controller and only find HALF of the round plug (the end that goes into the controller) but there is no other plug for me to reconnect it to. Does the other end connect to the servo? If not, where does it come from? The front of the bike or near the carbs? This will help me in locating the plug if it's been tucked out of sight. I've done a pretty extensive search and thus far haven't been able to find it.

Use a locking pliers to remove. I'm sure you can find replacements at your local hardware store or just leave 'em off. Antiseize will help. There are two vboost plugs...round and a 2-pin I believe. They should be up front near the servo motor and controller.

well that was a bust. Locking pliers had no effect. Looks like I'm going to have to drill it out and use easy removal tools.

I've not been able to find the plug, so I need to know if the other end goes up towards the handlebars or if it goes back towards the tank.

The screw extractor worked, so now I'm for sure going to have to replace the screws. Odd shaped things.. anyway, still can't find the plug behind those either. The v-boost plug has got to be somewhere!!!

The cable goes from the square v-boost controller to the servo motor which is mounted about 6 or 7" behind the controller, in front of the airbox, near the middle of the bike. There is a zillion wires squashed into the space forward of the airbox. The servo motor operates a cable attached to the v-boost butterflys, which are under the carby's.

If you look at the v-boost controller, it is mounted on a fairly flat piece of black plastic. Undo 3 phillips head screws and you can swing that assembly aside and look for the wire behind it.

OK, I've got K&N pods for an airbox. Do I need to remove the filters to see all this? sure is a lot of work to remove those. Your saying it's going to be in front of the airbox (or below the tach/guage setup.) among all the other wires that are there. I've looked for the V-boost butterfly servo and can't find it. I'll just have to remove those air filters so I can get a better look down there. Heck, I can't even see the cable and where it terminates at the butterfly's.

At least now I know what to look for. Thanks.

OK, i've torn this apart and taken pictures so that maybe experienced eyes can see what I cannot. It truly is boggling. I'm no idiot, I mean it should be relatively simple. Locate the controller (done) locate the servo motor or butteryfly's for the v-boost. (just can't find em)

Here's the pics. I left them sorta big so that you can see all the detail.

Also, I found 3 of these hoses and they are completely disconnected.. Not even sure where they go, but I'm assuming since they aren't connected, that they don't need to be there.

It loks like Some one took your servo out & your butterflies when they done the stage 7. They put the silver tubes in place of your butterflies. I will upload some pics tomorrow to show you what you are looking for. I tried tonight but the sight is being tempermental.

so your telling me this doesn't have v-boost? I've looking in my haynes manual and looking in that place and can't find anything. Here I was thinking the v-boost was on full time and that was the reason it was running like crap. Was getting ready to do some carb maintenance (peashooter etc) but first wanted to put the vboost back on to default. I've run some seafoam through it and it seems to be making a small difference and this is my second can.

Why would someone remove the butterfly valves and the servo? That makes no sense. I mean when, and I mean when, this thing kicks into running right after initial takeoff pause, she's got TONS of oomph. If this is WITHOUT the v-boost, I can't imagine it WITH.

OK, I found an image of someone else's Vmax and borrowed their picture as it shows the Vboost at the butterflys.

I've circled the vboost yes?

i can't see the pics b/c i'm at work but basically they removed the butterfly valves leaving vboost on permamently. its common with a stage 7 setup.

and of course when I purchased this bike, they didn't include these parts so they could be put back on if you wanted to. Now, I have to purchase them and put them on.

Thanks for your help guys.

why? i run vboost always open with a morley airbox. stage 7 was designed to run with vboost eliminated.

for sure your vboost has been removed as we can see the tubes used to replace them as captainK has mentioned. sounds like you have a off idle stumble.

whats an off idle stumble? it pausing when I start it moving? I was going to do the shooting the shotgun and see if that solved it. (although it is a little more technical than I'm used to.) I don't have a compressor, but I do have a spare air tank that I can fill to 100lbs.

Now I'm having a bear of a time removing the screws from the diaphragm cover. Really DO NOT want to have to use the extractor on these!

Anyone know the size of the screws in the diaphragm cover? I wanna buy some allen head bolts to replace these

Awesome. PM sent. I went to a hardware store and they only had one with the allen head. 5mmx.8 10mm long.

On another note, I saw another V-max driving through town, so I chased him down and talked with him a bit. He's got an '06 that he's going to sell to the yamaha dealer for $4,000. I told him he was crazy as an '06 in the immaculate condition his is in, is worth more than $4,000. I mean hell, I bought my '99 for $3200. If I was aware this guy was going to be selling his, I would have purchased it instead as it literally looks brand new.

That makes 3 v-max owners in this town that I know of.
