I have a set of Supertrapp slip-on that I got used......I am running 6 disc per side and they are plenty loud.......but could be louder:biglaugh:.....

My issue is I have a tick coming out of them.......kinda like an exhaust leak at the manifold in a car....it is not leaking at the joints.....the sound is definately coming out of the 'Trapps........

Will repacking them take care of this???

Will more or less packing make the tone deeper????:ummm:

Sounds like you must've got them from some dodgy Frenchman.. ;-)

I heard they get louder the more discs you add - maybe you should get some more and see if it floats your boat?

I also heard it's a right PITA removing/adding discs because of all the little washers in between, and am thinking what you're hearing could be a loose washer. Are all the end bolts tights?

Yeah.......I traded with some shady character down south...:biglaugh:

I intend to get some more discs......and the 120 degree shields......and some new packing......

I have not disassembled them yet......I am almost afraid to for fear of snapping off the bolts.......The guy I got them from probably superglued them.......he's just mean like that:biglaugh:

had them on a (rather not say) once and it was a rattle from the discs themselves, holes where the bolts go through there was some slop. ok they were on a 1200 cc first year five speed motorcycle, had about the same performance as a 750 vulcan thats all im gonna say, leave it to your imaginationster

kyle, man nows the time to get into them. they're not that bad to get apart and once you do you can repack easily and even fix some of the bolts/nuts if need be.

i would unscrew as many of the endcap bolts you can. if you can get them all out at least enough to cut off with a hacksaw if need be your golden. cut any off if you need to but get at least 4 out where the nuts on the inside are good. then you loosen the two (or one i forget) screws on the side. then get a 2x4 and drill 4 holes that match 4 holes on the end cap. get some long ass bolts and thread 'em thru the wood (with a big washer) and then into the exhaust. heat it up abit and keep pulling.

once its out, its really easy to epoxy/weld a new nut and get some new bolts if needed. I have a few extra disks i could send your way, maybe even the screws ud need to do that. guys here might have a few extra bolts laying around too. may have one of the nuts that are welded to the first 'ring' loose in there causing the rattling. nothing to 'em once u get the packing/cylinder out.

Getting some more discs would be great.......I'd really like to experiment:biglaugh:......

Is it really that hard to get these things apart???:ummm: Are you talking about the little bolts around the end?? Doesn't seem like they would hold up to much pressure.....

Oh well......I am sure I will be tearing into them in the coming weeks:eusa_dance:

i think i only have 3. don't ask me how i have an odd number. the rest went with my traps on trade in to sean. ur welcome to whatever i have left though, just shoot me your address. i'll get 'em out this weekend.

yea u gotta take the bolts off. but the nuts are welded on the back end of the first 'plate' which is attached to the baffle and everything. so u get some like 6" bolts with washers and a 2x4 and just pull away. heat it up a bit too!

u still have my cell #? call it anytime.

I wonder if I could put a Supertrapp on my snowblower:ummm::biglaugh:
