I'm back. What a busy weekend. It was my daughters 16th birthday"the big one" We had 11 other girls for a "sleep over" wow! And then I had to drive down to the next city "90 miles away" to the public car auction and get her a car. I got really lucky....It was the may long week end ,and hardly anyone was there,Buying was really cheap. I got her a bright red 1998 dodge status for $275.00 :biglaugh: It has 203,000 kms, and I cant really find any thing wrong with it.
Any ways....this post is suppose to be on "carbs" so lets get to it.
so first I headed to the shop....took off the fake gas tank top..then took off the ram air scoops.then I drained the float bowls"look carfully for dirt" I found some on one of the carbs."marked the carb" Then I loosened off the clamps that hold on the air box...Then took out the phillips screws on the top of the air box.And Walla, here are the carbs..so far ,so easy. Next I pulled my plugs.I let the motor tell "me" what cylinders were running lean.I put them in order on cardboard. So now..I know what carbs have dirt and what carbs are lean" I maked the carbs with a felt-pen"so now I would know what carbs to pay special attention too. Next, I loosend the main fuell line clamp. Then I decided to take off the chrome plastic intake covers.I wanted to check the rubber boots for cracks ect. Next, I loosend the "intake to carb" clamps, "finger pointing to them" Next, I moved the electricals out of the way because I was swinging the carbs out that way....if you dont move them, the throttle cables get caught up ,and wont let you slide the carbs out as far as you want. I set a stool under the carbs so there would be no tension on the cables. Next I took out the plate "4screws" that hold the throttle cables.
