Well today I was instructed that I might (95% sure) be transfered to another job :bang head: We are not talking about a month or so notice. We are talking "pack your crap" I am not happy to be away from home anyways and where I am at. However where I am is not as bad as where they are getting ready to send me. Ok I am at 10,200' elevation and knee deep in snow about 1 1/2 hrs from Denver , not the greatest but could be better right? Now the new news..... I hear my name mentioned today and "Bagdad" in the same sentence. When I heard this I am thinking "Hell NO"
Ok so it turned out to be Bagdad Arizona . It has to be the most secluded little town there is. 130 miles from Pheonix , now I am going from knee deep in snow to knee deep is scorpians etc. They told me that there was no one in our district that knew about the functionality of this project better than I do. So that goes to tell you that your experience doesn't always get you where you want to be in life. Damn I should have been a checker at a department store! The bad thing it is even farther from home. I am not the happiest camper on the block right now that is for sure. The worst thing is they want me to run my department , no manager etc. Yet the money where is that? I told my district manager " what is April going to bring?" meaning what is my raise going to be. Because If the money isn't there in my hand what is the reasoning for them to waste their time. I want to know , so I can tell them no! But incase this happens ....is there anyone from the Pheonix area :confused2:

Got relation in Phoenix area and I know there are a few guys on the forum from that area.

I am up in Sedona. That is only 100 miles north of phoenix and probably closer to bagdad than others. I think if you do have to come out here you will enjoy the rides available to you. :biglaugh:

I will look into bringing my bike then :eusa_dance:

That would be a wise choice! :biglaugh: Keep me informed about what is happening. There is always the possibility of hooking up for a ride as I have only seen 2 other vmaxes up here, and have not seen them since.

:punk: What kind of shop are you in charge of in Bagdad. Az is a great place to be and you can ride your bike 365 days a year. Good Luck, Spurs

Spurs,

I am in quality control for one of the lagest construction companies in the world. I am just an inspector yet they are pushing me into managment and salary position which is not good for the pocket book :bang head:

Nice, copper is worth alot now. What is the company name? Bring your bike for sure.

The question is if you accept this position, will you be so buried in your work "no pun intended" that you won't have time to ride?.......And if this turns out to be a long term assignment can you ride comfortably during the summer months?................Tom.

I can ride to and from work .... so they say. If you ride in the summer you probably need a helmet for sure. I had a friend years ago that wanted to ride about 40 miles in the 120 degree weather. I thought he was crazy I drove a car and he rode his bike. When we met up at the casino he looked like a lobster. :rofl_200:

It's better than Leadville if that's where you're at now. Perfect riding weather now and may great rides near Bagdad.

Bring your bike, alright. MANY great roads in this state, from the 191 and the 89A, the Catalina Highway and 177/77. It is a premier state for motorcycling, though the summers plain suck hot ***.

Arizona's great. Very neat state, the desert ain't for everybody but it has it beauty for sure. I prefer desert climes anyday.....

As for the job, Think about this, cause it took me a long time to figure this one out.

When they start piling responsibilty on and asking more and more it IS a compliment because performance above the mediocrity level is getting kind of rare these days. They don't ask unless they know you can handle it.

Makes you feel good and you don't think at first so much about how you're getting compensated in dollars. You're just happy to "feel loved"

The second stage is when you start wondering if you are being compensated in dollars adequately, this usually comes after the honeymoon period mentioned above.

The flip side of that is that you need to assess "who really holds the power" in this relationship?

Often times you'll find it is YOU, not them, due to the fact that they can not rely on anyone else to handle the job.

Ask yourself where they'd be or who they'd get to do it of you refused or mentioned looking for better compensation elsewhere????

Just make sure it's an honest assesment, I've seen quite few that merely "thought" they were irreplaceable go down in flames due to Hubris.

Then you'll know how hard to push.....

If you're traveling I hope they at least are covering all hotel, laundry, food, and transportation costs......It shouldn't cost you to work for them when they are sending you there to get a skill that they can't find locally......

Plus side is Az I think has no state income tax.
