Indian may have been first, but Honda got it right in 1969, with the CB750. But I've been wrong before :biglaugh: I would disagree with the V65 being the most technology in it. I'd gear toward the turbo bikes from Honda, and Kaw for that title when it came out in 84, it was the most high tech and not to mention the first into the 10's the V65 may have had the title but it didn't last long, the turbo bikes (IMO) were the way ahead on the tech side) .. hmm only to be beaten by the mighty Max in '85 :)

The CB750 was leaps and bounds ahead of everything else when it came out in 1969. I have a motorcycle history book that deemed it as the "most influential" bike ever produced, and I'd have to agree there. For the time it was the pinnacle of motorcycle technology. Hot performance, disc brakes, OHC, quad carb, five speed transmission(when Harley was still only offering three), electric start, front disc brake, and it was priced less than any other comparable bike. It very nearly wiped out the British and American bike industries. Many British monikers folded shortly afterward, and Harley came "this close" to biting it--saved by AMF, only to lower the bar even farther for quality standards. Even die-hard H-D guys admit that AMF Harley's were garbage.

The Vmax was listed as the landmark bike of the 80's, due to it's mind-boggling overkill of power, "it was a true dragster for the street".

I gave this some serious thought and came up with:
1) Hodaka Dirt Squirt
2) Hodaka Combat Wombat
3) Honda Pacific Coast
4) Ninja 250
5) Burgman
6) Any early model BMW with horizontally opposed cylinders
7) Boss Hoss with 502CI V-8
8) Suzuki Rebel 250
9) Jawa moped
10) Honda Helix

These machines scream mind bending, max performance coolness in ten different ways:thumbs up:

Vincent Black Shadow, bike did 130 mph in an era when "fast" bikes were only doing ninety.

Also 1970's Yamaha rd 350's and 400's, true pocket rocket wheelie machines, when they get on the pipe it is a very similar feeling to v-boost kicking in.

My top ten:

1. Vincent Black Shadow
2. Gen. 1 V-Max
3. 1975-79 Yamaha RD400
4. 2004-Present Triumph Speed Triple
5. 1958-present Triumph Bonneville
6. 1997-2000 MV Agusta F4 (750cc)
7. 1970's Triumph Trident 750
8. 1972 Harley Davidson XR 750
9. 1940's Harley Davidson WLA w/ sidecar
10. Triumph Thruxton
