Well you can still tell the economy is not the greatest. It seems like every thing I put up for sale lately I get tons of trade offers on. I love Horse trading but most of the stuff people want to trade I have no use for. I have a guy that wants my carbs but he wants me to give him 300 bucks & my carbs for a Humminbird 987C Fish finder GPS thingybob looks like a nice unit but I dont plan on taking my Max fishing any time.LOL

I've gotten some mighty strange trade offers from stuff on craigslist. I put my old 230 up for a measley $300, since it ran and drove, but was otherwise a total piece 'o crap. Said open to trades for the hell of it. Almost immediately some kid started pestering me about trading me all sorts of crap for my quad. He emailed me 4 or 5 times listing probably everything in his house that wasn't nailed down. Problem was, absolutely none of it was worth anything. No, I don't want a 10 year old video game console. No, I don't want a bunch of random DVDs. I don't want your old ipod with a cracked screen. I guess he figured if he offered me 300 things that might sell for a dollar at a garage sale, I'd trade him a 25 year old beater quad for a truckload of junk.

And he wouldn't take no for an answer. Every time I said I really wasn't interested in any of that stuff, he'd reply with a fresh batch of more stuff and almost plead with me to trade him. "cmon man i really really really want this wheeler, can't we work something out to trade? what if i give you $100 thats all i have and some stuff?"

I thought he'd finally given up, but a few days later (obviously not that much of a craigslist noob), he emailed again.... "well it looks like you havent had much luck selling it outright, any interest in trading with me....followed by another plea about how much he absolutely needs to get a 4wheeler and how I "just gotta" help him out. More random items. Tools, used auto parts, a broken welder(HF special), a tv, an old couch, ect. Any or all of it could have been mine. When I took the ad down when someone showed up with cash, he emailed yet again. "is it really gone, i see the ad is down". Can't say this kid wasn't determined.

holy crap. sounds like the guy that wanted my max for 2500 cash... or a gun and 100 bucks

maybe its the same guy

he finally quit emailing me i wonder what happened to him

RA, I have ran across some stupid stuff like that to. I always have a bike for sale. I have been offered video games, furniture, parrots & all kinds of other stuff. I think the best thing I been offered & actually thought about was a pretty nice S 10 Blazer with a mildly hopped up 350 in it.

I can relate to these ' traders ' as I'm trying the same thing on the local craigslist . Looking to trade any or all of my 3 dirtbikes for a street legal dual sport...for my grandson...pretty straight forward deal no ? . I'm getting offers for Wii's , snowmobile trailers , 2 microwave ovens and a cord of firewood . :confused2:

Kyle, I actually brought a Stainless, 6", Ruger 357 Magnum with me on the last trip to your "VMax Parts Store". Just in case things got desperate. I didn't bring it up then but you never know, you've still got parts....:rofl_200:

Did you get the work done to the 86... That may be more money in your pocket...

Funny, I read this as you brought the gun in case he did not "cooperate" with you.... To "persuade" him into the deal.... HA HA:rofl_200:

LOL I like trading sometimes if its good stuff right now cash is king though. I put the new slave cylinder on the 86 yesterday & I just came in from putting the Vboost cable on. I still need to slap the carbs back on but that wont take long.

I'm always trading stuff. I love it, I half jokingly say I;ll eventually end up with a house or business.

Our money is more worthless every day. Soon, it won't be possible to carry enough money to buy anything. I see the Govt. has printed 110 Billion Dollars in Hundreds. Now they've found that some of the bills are defective so they have to sort them before use.:rofl_200:That will cost a fortune and possibly a year to accomplish. These Hundred Dollar Bills cost the Govt. 12 cents each to print, BTW, that's the most expensive bill the Govt. has ever printed... 12 cents. That's also $99. 88 each, profit to Uncle Sam. After all the bills have nothing backing them....

Actually Brett, I carry a 45 Glock if I wanted to do anyone wrong...:biglaugh:
Besides, it wouldn't be Kyle. Or for that matter, any of you on my Friend List...:ummm:

Goods seem to have more value in trade for other goods than they do for cash now, it almost seems for used things, swapping is the way to go.

I put my second quad up for "sale or trade" on craigslist. The book value on it was about $1200, but one of the rear wheels had literally fallen off and the hub assembly was all fubared. Fixable, but honestly I didn't like the quad that much and wanted to get a sport quad instead of a big slow utility. It needed about $50 of parts for the wheel but otherwise ran and drove perfectly. I asked $1000, since I just didn't really feel like fixing it (it shit the bed on me in the middle of the woods and frankly I was kind of pissed at it). No bites. Couple low-ballers offering me like $300 for it. I love it when someone tries to convince me there's something wrong with it based on a picture and description. The absolute best offer I got was like $500, I was in no rush to get rid of it so I just bided my time. Then someone emailed me asking if I would trade it as-is for a Blaster in good condition. Blasters go for around $800-$1500 depending on age/condition. We agreed, and traded straight across, and both walked away happy.

I love trading for stuff and craigslist is one of the best redneck resources out there to get stuff on the cheap, or free. People nowadays throw out perfectly good appliances, electronics, equipment, everything, just to get the newer, flashier model.

Dont get me wrong I have traded for stuff my whole life but its just some of the trades I have been offered recently are crazy. I am sure I will do more trading down the road. Hell I traded my old project crappy FJ 1100 for 2 sets of connecting rods a while back. I sold one set yesterday for $ 600 bucks could have gotten more but they needed resized. I have another set left MTC 4340 forgedd rods for a honda 750 or 900F I am sure I will sell them in time but the first set i sold was more than i could have got for the bike I traded.
