Recently meet up with 8 other nuts from Round Rock Tx and New Orleans and road over 1300 miles into North Central Arkansas (the Ozarks), Talimena, Sylamore, 123, 27, 309 push Mountain rd, to name a few. We had 4 FJR's, 2 conc 14, 1 zx14, 1 FZ1 and my Vmax. i offer the following observations from riding with 8 other very cabable motorcyclist.

1 a slippery substance on a dry rd affects all riders and bikes!!! Be careful on the Talimena, the warnings signs at the 20MPH curve are for real!!!

2 it is harder to ride a Vmax fast than any of these other bikes
3 The Vmax's corning ability will suprise most sport bike riders
4 Wheelies happen on the Max:punk:
5 Do not try to keep up with an FZ1 on a tight cornered rd like 123, you can not on a Vmax
6 As hard as you try, all the above bikes will carve a tighter turn than the Vmax (Be careful on corner entry speed)
7 Beer and Catfish always taste better after a 250 mile ride through the Ozarks with great company.
8 Aggresive riding and sharp turns will wear out tires both front and back extremely fast. Make sure they are new before you start the trip.
9 Wearing out tires is a lot of fun!!:eusa_dance:
10 the want and desire to own a sport touring machine will pass with time. I hope!:ummm:
11 The roads in Arkansas are amazing!!!

I would like to have a hyabusa but no storage at all. The vmax has a backrest for a rider or a nice size storage bag. Who am i kidding i want a hyabusa vmax venture and a kx500. Dont get me started. Maybe some day i will have that garage full of toy's. (roadrunner corvette hyabusa sandrail). Maybe.

I would argue with 5 & 6. A heavily modified Gen 1 Vmax will corner right nicely, had a Z1000 try to keep up with me in tight corners unsuccessfully, and he is a good rider.

+ 1 , you need to add the word " stock " to make the # 5 & # 6 statements true. Many don't have no stock VMax . :rofl_200:

I have a heavily modified Vmax, and it corners like it's on rails. Don't get me wrong, he wasn't leaving me but i could not stay with him. Believe me I gave it hell, I was riding the tank cover, dragging boots on both sides, and i never drag anything. My front tire tells the story, the chicken strip is less than a 1/4". Never had to sit on the tank before, turned the max into a dirt bike. I don't have any rear tire edge left, used it all. Correct me if I am wrong, but all other things equal, shorter dia tires and a shorter wheel base will carve a tighter corner! It was all fun, quite a few "Oh **** Moments" and not just me.

I found that with the 17" wheels, chain drive, and the suspension upgrades I can hang with bikes that should be able to take me easily through the corners. The gent on the Z1000 thought it was cool that I was sliding off the seat and knee dragging around corners, with other parts dragging as well. No chicken strips left on the tires LOL!!!!

I have not tried really hanging way off, normally don't have to. :punk: I think I might have found my limit. That's ok, the limit is quite entertaining and will challenge some of the most seasoned riders.:eusa_dance:

Did i mention, those FJR's are nice!!!:scooter 1:
