A man was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident after the woman riding on the back of his motorcycle fell off and he kept driving, deputies said.
Scott Ellis, 44, of Lake Worth, was arrested on Thursday.
Deputies said Ellis was at the Carolina Ale House in Boynton Beach in September last year when he started talking to a 24-year-old woman who worked there. He offered to give her a ride home on his motorcycle just after midnight and she agreed, deputies said.
According to the arrest report, they traveled about two miles west of the restaurant when the woman fell off the motorcycle near the intersection of Military Trail and Cedar Point Boulevard. Ellis kept driving while two witnesses stopped to help the woman, deputies said.
The woman, who did not know Ellis' last name, was transported to the hospital.
A few weeks later, deputies said the woman came to them with a possible name of the motorcyclist.
She identified Ellis as the man who drove her home and deputies discovered he had two motorcycles registered under his name — including one that matched the motorcycle the woman described falling off of.
Deputies finally made contact with Ellis this week and charged him with leaving the scene of a crash involving injury. He is being held at the Palm Beach County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bail.
