Hello,

When considering to change the horn due to non-satisfactory voice level I removed and checked it. When about to install another one, I realized that the specification was identical with the original (12 V, 2.5 A, 105 dB) and only cleaned the connectors. This seemed to be the problem origin. So if you are not happy with the voice level of the horn, better to check the joint condition first. Then if it does not help, keeping the mentioned specification in mind have to try to find a horn that makes more than 105 dB...
The spec should be written on the horn cover so it is easy decision. The replacement operation takes no more than 5 minutes, though, and you only need a 10mm wrench to complete it.

Regards,

I have a Ferrari spec'd air horn on my SV and love it. It's up inside the fairing so it isn't able to be seen. Stock will work on the Max as all others are too obtuse for me to install. Thanks for the tip though!

I had a friend that added a Hondaline Touring kit to a 1200 Goldwing - back in 1985, so its been a while....

Anyway, he gave me the 2 stock chrome horns off the Wing, and I mounted them to the sides of the frame, near the radiator. They still worked like shit, till I replaced the R/R unit - 20 years later! , and got the proper voltage back in the electrical system.

They look like they were put there by MamaYama, and they've been there so long, I forgot what it looked like without them...... The horn is visible just behind the radiator, near the front head. The other one is on the other side of the bike.
