Not sure if anyone has tried this but I found this website, carbonfibervinyl.com that sells different types of vinyl car wrap. Since my air box has the small chips at the front corners from PO not having the drag bars adjusted I wanted to try and repair it. I'm limited on Guam and can't find a decent painter that isn't expensive so I'm going to try wrapping the air box cover. It only needs to last until Nov 14 when I return stateside where I will tear my entire bike down and refurb it. Any tips on using this stuff would be helpful. $40 for a new air box cover look ain't bad...

We have some carbon wrap we're working with now for a custom paint job. Gannon (88vmax12) has also use the wrap with some good results on some of the parts on his bike.

Can wrap be cleared over? I'm interested in the red/black carbon. There are 3M certified techs that are trained to wrap whole areas with bends ect. So I guess it is difficult to do.

Not to difficult, just have to take your time.
I wrapped both of my entire mids on my R1 plus several areas on my Gen II using the 3m Di-loc wrap. The R1 stuff has been on for over a year with about 5000 miles, zero bubbles or pealing. The Gen II stuff for over 2 years with 10k plus zero pealing or bubbles as well.

I used to have a wrapped faux tank. It, along with other member's rides, Made it into Cycle world's blurb on custom gen I bikes back when the Gen II first came on the market.

Well I ordered a very unusual design that fits my personality. I will post some pics and let everyone know the difficulties of a newbie trying to wrap the air box cover.

Well, my first attempt at wrapping my bike went o.k. I would give my attempt a C. Got air bubbles and had to make a few relief cuts to get some wrinkles out.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1375513886.737046.jpg even have the new sexy seat from Sean on the bike. Sitting still the seat feels awesome.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1375513943.251144.jpg

I just tried to wrap my scoops. If u take your time abd use a heat gun it's super easy. I just watched a few videos and ordered some 3m 1080 vinyl because it stretches easy

There is an adhesion promoter out there to help keep it stuck to complicated parts too.

Here it is with the black and white. I just need to finish the tail
