I have a Shoei Rf-1000 that I dropped last fall and scratched the crap out of my visor. I don't really like wearing sun glasses with my helmet, but I dont have room for 2 visors and sometimes get stuck out at dark.

I like the looks of a mirrored shield but have not seen one in person, are they tinted or easy to see through. What other options for this helmet are there? I know dark tinted shields are bad at night and I dont expect a light tinted/mirrored visor to protect from bright sunlight. So lets see what you guys think.

i carry 1 in a spare bag. i get caught out too much and the sun is too dangerous esp around dusk/dawn.

IMO they're both dark... I prefer the dark shields as they blend in with my whole motif...

i have a tinted, but at night time it sucks riding it with it up because all the bugs get in my teeth.

my next helmet will have a clear lense!!!! i wear sunglasses under it.

another problem with having sunglasses under your shaded lens, is a lot of things... color warp??? like tar spots in the middle of the road shine.. its weird...

u try one of those tinted strips that goes on the top of your clear visor?

I do the same. At 6pm it's already night, and the smoke silver shield is too dark for riding at night. I don't like much the sunglasses. It's not that comfortable and It's not super safe IMO.

I always rode with a black lense at night. When youre familiar with the road they arent dark enough to give you trouble. But just in case I was in a new area or route I carried shooting glasses in my jacket in case I had to ride with my visor open.

I have the Shoei RF 1000 also and I use the light tint visor. It is still good to use at night, but I do wear shades during the day. I like to have my visor open on the first notch when riding, so I want the eye protection.

I have the HJC FC-10 helmet it has a sun visor that comes down from the top of the helmet behind the regular shield. It is spring loaded and when you ride at night it slides back up into the helmet.Dennis Kirk has them on closeout for 152.09

I had a HJC and didnt care much for it, for one thing it weighed a ton and was distracting at high speeds.

Had a Scorpion EXO-1000 for a while that had the internal tinted visor that you could drop down for daylight and raise for nighttime. Was an ok helmet, one of the quieter ones I have owned, but did have a couple of QC issues that were never resolved to my liking so I got rid of it. Others I know swear by it so don't let my opinion or experience be your only guide:biglaugh:

Went out for the first ride of the year tonight and think I made a good visor selection. Can see fine with it in the dark and it seems like it should be alot beter during the day.

I ride with clear shield and sunglasses, I never really like a dark tinted shield. I tried the changeable lens type sunglases and would even change out to the clear lenses at night, but now I just use regular sunglasses. That way I'm ready for every light condition with minimal fuss and not have to carry a extra shield.
I ride rual roads and there usually no lights other than my own so I need to be able to see if there are any animals waiting to run across my path. I also like to use the yellow lens in heavily overcast days/ dusk for the extra contrast but it is too dark to use at night.
