Will it work with the V-Max? Kinda need to know, cause Starting Line has one, and it would be an invaluable addition for longer trips.

Also, do they work with Kuryakyn grips?

they work great on a vmax, shouldn't be a problem with you grips, they accommodate a lot of different diameters.

I installed an Audiovox cruise control unit in my Suzuki RF900...worked like a charm. I'd like to do the same for my Max, but there is very little room on the Max to hide the actuator...

Works good. I had to thin mine down....it wouldn't fit between the master cyl and the switch housing, even with them pushed as far away from each other as they could possibly go.

I prefer the one that clamps the throttle tube, not the grip. Same company. Requires slight mods to the throttle tube. Used on both my Maxes and every bike I have owned since the late 70's. The brass adjuster was custom made by a friend in the late 70's for ease of adjustment. Had two at one time but this is the last one I have. Much easier than the original adjuster which requires a small screwdriver or equivalent.

There is a ridge that locates the stock grip chrome piece that has to be carefully removed so the control will grip the throttle tube properly. The only trick is to be sure the tube stays almost perfectly round or the control won't hold or release properly. This particular cruise control is currently on every gen 1 in my riding group (about 6). All my friends wanted one after seeing mine.

Ok, could I see images of what you did with the throttle sleeve exactly? Also, They have them at Starting Line for both 7/8" and 1" bars. I assume you got the one for the 7/8" bars?

Don't have any pics. It is readily apparent when the grip is removed. The Vista Cruise needs a perfectly round surface to grip when applied. If it is not, there will be drag and the control will not grab and release properly. There is not a large change in the open and closed positions. It is a simple mod, just have to be precise.

It is 7/8" bars. They also have them for different bikes. I can't remember which one I bought as it has been on for years. On mine there is a little metal clip that bolts to the handlebar control using existing bolt. The VC has a plastic nub that slips into the clip. That way the VC fits several bikes. Some had nubs that slip between dual throttle cables. Some had a clip that slips over single throttle cables. Just inspect to be sure you get the right one. There may be more than one style that works. They may have changed to a one size fits all by now. I've been using these since the 70's.

These are a great idea and I used to have one but I found that I never used it so I ended up taking it off. If your on a flat stretch at a constant speed then they work fine but hit some hills and it stinks, I'll just keep throttling mine myself but your mileage may vary.

i had one of these on a virago i had with a single throttle cable, it actually comes with a dual cable clip as well and should work for our bikes, i might order one for myself for that matter

These are all throttle locks basically, I think to get a true cruise control is going to require a bunch of work to get it to maintain over up hills and down hills.
At $20 go cruise is cheap and easy to carry along that lets you rest your throttle hand when your on a level stretch. I would guess that only a very few Vmax's need a true cruise control like the Audiovox cruise control.

There is the throttle meister too, but they are kind of expensive. Sean Morley was working on retrofitting a venture cruise control system to a vmax......Not sure if he ever completed it or not? Off topic.....Brian, your avatar is hot!!!!

Tried to add a link to the throttle meister, but this smart phone is smarter than I am apparently....lol. They are pretty slick, basically a bar end that has a friction mechanism built into it.
