I have a 2007 VMAX that I bought with 1K miles on it. I noticed there was a hose hanger screwed to the carb slide cover on the left side of the bike, not being used. I have now seen other pics of different vmax's that have a hose coming from, what looks like, the carb area and connecting to a canister of some sort. Just wondering what this is and if it is necessary. I would think it is something related to pollution standards, but not sure.

It is the california emmissions can and can be removed and plug in the carb body capped off. It doesn't hurt it on there either.

Thanks, Sean.

Since I was not the one that took it off, do you have any pics of where it should have connected to, so I can make sure it is capped off?

I believe it's on the rear carb body but it's been awhile since I took one off. Look at the microfiche under fuel tank to get an idea what you are or are not missing. www.yamaha-motor.com > parts and accessories > catalog

Thanks, I saw it on the fuel parts diagram. Too bad they don't have the names of the fittings on the carb parts digram so I know where it would have connected. I'll just take a look and see if I can see a cap/plug anywhere on the back of the carb body.
