Limited edition Honda Valkyrie Rune. 2004 & 2005 models only. Offered in Black, Candy Black Cherry (mine) and Illusion Blue (my wife's). There were two diff handlebars avail, called either an 'A' bar, or a 'B' bar - only about an inch reach difference between the two sets. And Honda offered a chrome wheel package on the 04's for an extra $2500 smackers. The 05's came standard with chrome wheels, I think.
1832cc flat 6 engine, same as the current model Gold Wing, except the Rune engine is cammed for more torque at cruising speeds, vs GW for highway speed. I think the GW motor claims a few more HP than the Rune, but I don't have the specs memorized.
They came as single passenger bikes only. Ours have both been 'converted' to two-up ride ready with Corbin double seats and 'Danny's' rear foot peg mounts. My friend Darren (DLCrays on this forum) one-offed a trailer hitch to fit mine while we had it apart doing a sub-frame mod to enable me to run a 205/50 car tire on the back.
I'd characterize the Honda Rune more as a Cadillac bike as opposed to a hotrod. It won't hold a candle to a Vmax either in acceleration or cornering abilities (not enough ground clearance and way too heavy on the front end), yet is sure fun to ride. And it's an attention getter, most any where you go. It rides smoooother than a babies' butt.
My trailer came from
http://www.minitrailerusa.com/shadow-diamond-trailer.htm near Vinita OK, only 60 miles from me. I caught mine during the off-season around Christmas time, and talked the lady, (yes, I said 'lady') into an even better price than she had offered on her web site at the time. It is extremely similar to the Aluma brand bike trailers at about 1/2 the cost. Knockoff? I don't know, and don't care. I see she has made further refinements to her standard offering since I bought mine in that she now includes a license brkt _ i had to add my own.... I also added front/rear side marker LED lighting for safety reasons.
This lady "Robin" runs the pattern torch, sheet brake, welders, and powder coat booth in her own shop. As far as my personal inspection of her operation upon picking up my trailer, and talking to her before ordering, she is a 'one woman' operation and I would recommend this trailer to anyone. I personally, didn't want a fancy fiberglass, color matched, high dollar outfit, that I'd get rock chips in right off the bat. I store this trailer outside, and hitch it up on a moments notice to go whereever, and didn't want to have to worry about cleaning, waxing and etc.... like I'd have to do for a high $$ trailer. I suspect this trailer will last me a lifetime, barring any unforeseen circumstances such as another tornado in my back yard. I gave $1050.00 total 1 1/2 yr ago.
