Screwed up deal. My Max appears to have plugged up idle circuit. I've been trying for weeks with the Seafoam with no joy. So I hear about this guy with mucho MC experience working out of home with good rates. Max will only run with the enrichment valve on to some degree. I take it to him and tell him the symptoms. He believes it is the carbs so he will pull and clean. The dude is really slow. One week later its ready and "really running good". I go over to take it for a spin. The idle is dead on and it starts good. While riding I note that the exhaust doesn't sound just right and I detect a little surging. So I reach down to make sure the enrichment lever is in the full off position. Big surprise. Its full on. When I turn it off the engine quits. Just as before but now with the enrichment full on the idle is at 1200 rpm whereas before the engine would rev to a little over 3000 rpm with full on. I return the bike to him and suggest that he do better. I should have took it and ran. I suggest that maybe he actually fixed the carbs but adjusted them with the enrichment circuit full on instead of off. If this is what happened how smart is that. How would you manage to even adjust the rpm that low with the enrichment valve full on? Any clues what he did? If there is ONE out there I will alway find them. Woe is me.:confused2:
