As most of you know I take the VMAX to my local dragstrip in the spring and in the fall due to the track temps are cooler along with air temps are better.
I wanted to post some of my ET's when a VMAX isnt running properly. If you dont have a dyno shop close but you have a dragstrip its just as accurate in your MPH dont worry about ET as long as you dont miss any gears your MPH will pretty much tell you HP numbers.
I messed up adjusting my needles while I was half asleep and this was the results. When my VMAX is tuned properly the 60FT times are in the low 1.50's such as 1.53's to 1.55's when the bike is pulling hard out of the hole and MPH should be no less than 100 MPH on a stock engine with a aftermarket header. I am hoping to see 101 I have had VMAX engines that will run 101 and seen 102 in perfect conditions, once again this is a stock engine with compression meausring 155 a cylinder.

Needles set to high causing low end fuel load up. On the street it felt normal as it was running good just didnt sound smooth at steady throttle in the mid range.
Guessing Rear Wheel Horsepower around 100
60FT = 1.6068
330FT = 4.6380
594FT = 6.7421
1/8 ET = 7.1398
1/8 MPH= 95.98

When you work on carbs in the dark and drop the small O-Ring from the carb.
You will see it had no power in the first 60FT due to 2 things, 1) Rich on the low end, and only 3 slides rising rather than all 4.

Guessing Rear Wheel Horsepower 80
60FT = 1.7008 (This was launching at 5500 and slipping WOT)
330FT = 4.9081
594FT = 7.1410
1/8 ET = 7.6521
1/8 MPH = 88.04

I am plannjing on going back this Friday night. I got it all straightned out now.

When tuned properly

60FT= 1.5880
330 FT= 4.4689
594 FT= 6.4802
1-8 ET= 6.9320
1-8 MPH= 100.83

60ft= 1.626
330FT= 4.531
1/8 ET= 6.968
1/8 MPH= 101.07

This last pass would have been 6.89's if the tire would have hooked 100% MPH was higher .24 due to small amount of wheel spin.

buell would kick your ass

A Buell can KISS MY ASS! The day a stock Hardley or a damn POS Buell stock for stock out runs a VMAX will be the day. I will get a 6.89 on a VMAX with stock size tires no bars this year on this 85 engine. If the rear end doesnt blow first, its going I felt it vibarating Sat night street riding. It will blow up this Friday if the tire hooks. I just hope she blows on the launch and not into second

The VRXSE V-Rod Destroyer is a factory stock HD that will outrun a stock VMax at the track.

First off, The Vrod that you are talking about has a slick and wheelie bars, yes I know this comes stock with the Vrod.
Read this article http://www.bikepoint.com.au/portal/tabID__5760/ArticleID__120410/DesktopDefault.aspx

Or I can save you time and embarassment and post one statement from the article

"I'd been warned - although I would have known better if I'd been listening properly. Even so, the thing sorted itself out and as I passed the timing board I saw it register a fraction over 11 seconds. Close enough to 10 to make me want one more go, and close enough to make me realise just what the Harley-Davidson Destroyer is all about"

Maybe they are faster than you on your VMAX Buster, but if I cant get a stock VMAX with a set of slicks and bars into the solid 10's than I have a riding problem, If I remember Pee Wee Gleason ran what on the 85 VMAX for cycle magazine ?? 10.50' 60's I am not sure who taught you math but in my equations the VMAX is faster..

Well after raising my needles one notch here is my to date fuel data.

I filled up the tank Saturday night while riding with a buddy. Put on 65 Hard miles of nothing below 90MPH and a few wheelies.

Today I took the VMAX out for a stress test and I went past my usual 74-76 miles with the low fuel light flashing. I was like hmmm either my LED burnt out for the low fuel or I am running better, well I hit 92 miles and the led started to flash..
Here is the deal

2nd clip from the bottom 24/25 MPG.
3rd clip from the bottom 30/31MPG Woooo Hoooo !! Thats 6 more MPG and more low end grunt!:eusa_dance:
Should I go one more notch up on my needle clip? Or leave it alone?

:eusa_dance: Wooo Whooooo I found me a qaurter mile track! Beechbend Raceway located in Bowling Green KY. I was track champion there back in 1992. I knew they quit there bike program up there and thought they only did 1/8 time trials. Its a little further of a drive (30 mins / 45 miles) compared to my local track which is 3-4 miles.I just got an email back saying "
Yes we do allow motorcycles on Sat. and they race the 1/4 mile only on Sat.
Subject: Beech Bend Park

:clapping::eusa_dance:

Now I can double my chance of tearing something up... Not a chance this weekend though I am running the 1/8 tonight and going to Beechbend to watch the Harley Drags Sat night.
