As most of you know I take the VMAX to my local dragstrip in the spring and in the fall due to the track temps are cooler along with air temps are better.
I wanted to post some of my ET's when a VMAX isnt running properly. If you dont have a dyno shop close but you have a dragstrip its just as accurate in your MPH dont worry about ET as long as you dont miss any gears your MPH will pretty much tell you HP numbers.
I messed up adjusting my needles while I was half asleep and this was the results. When my VMAX is tuned properly the 60FT times are in the low 1.50's such as 1.53's to 1.55's when the bike is pulling hard out of the hole and MPH should be no less than 100 MPH on a stock engine with a aftermarket header. I am hoping to see 101 I have had VMAX engines that will run 101 and seen 102 in perfect conditions, once again this is a stock engine with compression meausring 155 a cylinder.
Needles set to high causing low end fuel load up. On the street it felt normal as it was running good just didnt sound smooth at steady throttle in the mid range.
Guessing Rear Wheel Horsepower around 100
60FT = 1.6068
330FT = 4.6380
594FT = 6.7421
1/8 ET = 7.1398
1/8 MPH= 95.98
When you work on carbs in the dark and drop the small O-Ring from the carb.
You will see it had no power in the first 60FT due to 2 things, 1) Rich on the low end, and only 3 slides rising rather than all 4.
Guessing Rear Wheel Horsepower 80
60FT = 1.7008 (This was launching at 5500 and slipping WOT)
330FT = 4.9081
594FT = 7.1410
1/8 ET = 7.6521
1/8 MPH = 88.04
I am plannjing on going back this Friday night. I got it all straightned out now.
