A great looking bike but only in Europe for now. Just the sort of thing to appeal to the Boomer motorcyclists. Dig the silver metalflake helmet w/the 'chrome' plastic mylar trim! You might have to fight a (much-younger than you, Boomer!) Vandyke-wearing hipster in a flannel shirt, blue jeans, and Ray Ban Wayfarers (or Persols) to buy this one. http://www.motorcycledaily.com/2014...als-hipster-restyled-xjr1300-for-euro-market/

Mechanically, the 2015 XJR is pretty much the same bike as before, with the fuel-injected Four offering up just under 100 horsepower and about 80 ft.-lbs. of torque. A new black-finished 4-2-1 exhaust offers an updated look over the old chrome-finish system. Wet weight is 535 pounds, about what you’d expect from a bike like this. The fork tubes get a diamond-like coating to improve the action, and shocks are still Öhlins. You may recognize the brake calipers from such hits as the first-generation YZF-R1.

Perhaps you prefer silver?

Great lines and retro style, but modern electronics, fueling & suspension (Ohlins).

I like it! It looks like itd be quite easy to bob it, go full on cafe racer, streetfighter, stunt bike.... it almost looks to be a perfect blank slate to go crazy with in whatever style you wish. Or you could just leave it as is and ride it... but whats the fun in that? lol

That XJR would look a whole lot tougher with a set of USD forks. Just too weedy looking at the front for me.

Just under 100 horse? From a 1300? Did Hardley have a hand in engine design? Looks really nice, but no thanks. I want more, not less. Especially if that is 100 at the crank. Wtf yamaha?

They usually tune these for lots of torque, and roll-on acceleration w/o shifting. It probably does a sub 4 sec topgear 60-80 mph. Lotta grunt.

Yes, the front end does look a bit 'slim,' but I bet it has a price point which makes it very attractive, like the FZ-09, and it should, as it's using an engine paid-for long ago in the tooling. And you young whippersnappers are spoiled compared to those of us who began riding when a 33 mm Ceriani or Betor front-end was high-tech, a modded exhaust meant sawing-off the 2-1 collector on your Honda 305 scrambler and installing Snuff-R-Nots, Triumph 650's, Norton 750's and BSA 650's were performance bikes, and the biggest Honda was a 450 twin that shook like a paint mixer.

I've always loved the cafe racer style bikes. This would be a great one to own without all the headaches of the older models and quite a bit more power.

Yeah, a fully adjustable USD fork, and matching rear shocks, or maybe a conversion to a monoshock, fully adjustable, would be sweet. Add a different solo seat/tail section, a VTX headlight with the matching aftermarket headlight cowl, to add to the sport look, and clip-on bars, and that puppy would REALLY look sweet!

This is a dyno run I found for the bike last night...
Don't sound too bad either, but I think it would do better if it ran a crossplane crank like the R1

Looks like my old 89 FJ1200 with some plastic bits missing. I like it very much but it doesn't have the sheer hooligan arrogance of my V-Max. Seems like a retro step back to the manufacturer race of the late seventies when Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki were knocking out ever increasing capacity bikes for bragging rights.
Just my thoughts.

Chris.
