Just curious if anyone knows if Yamaha put a speed limit rating on their touring windshield? I would assume that at high speed it would put a lot stress on the mounting hardware.

I don't see a disclaimer on the old website screenshot I have? Doesn't mean one wasn't included in the box?

I would assume that any accessory produced specifically for the VMAX by Yamaha would at least be able to handle the factory top speed.

I have it and is really strong, no problem at high speed

Gotcha, that’s close to factory top speed. I’ll just have to take it easy in the winter if I’m using it. 😉

I have one of these touring shields that I would sell if anyone is looking. $200 plus shipping. Pictured are some light scratches in a small area of the shield.

If it is OEM and not the aftermarket version I would think it is safe and certainly the most prudent choice. Especially for higher speeds (like over 80 mph), I'd stay with OEM windshields -just my opinion. Regardless of windshield, I check for stress cracks and stability frequently. I added this giant, oversized, super-tall, almost-obnoxious, touring, polycarbonate windscreen and I tested it up to 130 mph -and it seemed stable. But for all day cruising, I'd only be comfortable with my SOP (seat of pants) estimate - that it is safe up to the 70 to 90 mph range. It is easy enough to take off, so I can do that in 5 minutes if I want to go race at the track, but for summer cruising (gas-station hopping), i prefer riding with it on. I like to ride with other bikers and bikes: Harleys, Hondas, Kaws, etc. and i don't have to be the fastest guy on the road anymore (since I am 72 y.o.). We usually stay under 90 even on the freeway, so the big windscreen works really well for me. The protection and comfort is very noticeable. Some guys like to burst up to 130 mph or more, and I think any aftermarket windscreen is risky for that, especially anything as big as mine. But I really do like the comfort it adds on longer rides and even on short rides around town. But for higher-speed or racing, I'd keep the bike stock or OEM regarding bags and windshields. The younger me wanted a 200 mph bike and absolutely nothing on it that might slow it down, so I can appreciate that choice too. Have great riding! Best regards, Bruce
