I have bough some aftermarket ones from ebay and have a question about stock 1's...
In the stock electrical system, there are 3 colors for blinkers i believe. There is black, brown and blue.

My question is: Which color is the Flasher light, Running light, and ground????

thanx

The front directionals are the only ones wired for running lights...they are 3 wire, the rear directionals are 2 wire, ground and flasher only.

To answer your question: black=ground, blue=running and the brown or green (different color for left or right side) =flasher.

If you want the running lights on the rear, which is nice to have, you may consider a splice from anywhere on that circuit, whether it is from the brake, the front blinker, or anything else that is "on" when the key is in the "on" position.

If the lights have a dual intensity wiring set up, it's simple enough to take advantage of it.

BTW: What flashers did you get. I'm looking to replace mine as well, and want wire in the dual intensity on both front and back.

I run oem signals and wanted rear running lights so simply removed the 2 wire whips in the rears and replaced them with front 3 wire ones....that way the colors are still coded correctly.
For some reason that made a difference to me!! Anal perhaps??:confused2:

First pic is running only, second is with brake on. I figured out a way to shorten up the oem stems, bringing them 1 3/4" in closer to the bike so they don't look quite so geeky, but haven't got around to doing it yet.

BTW 4gasem secretly drools over this set-up, but will never admit it publicly!! :rofl_200: LOL!

Just be careful with the running lights in the back. I believe it is illegal to have amber running lights in the back.

installed the front ones but ran into a new issue... How would i assemble a headlight back on?? It has 2 springs, some bent wire, a small plastic piece for screwing a bolt into... and a whole lot of nonsense... :ummm:
doesnt really make sense to me to have these long bolts without something to fasten them into so the light can physically be attached...

The long bolts are for adjusting the aim of the headlight.

i just rebuilt mine last year. dannys pic helps too on that thread.

hard to explain it all via typing but is the lense/backing/rim all still together or is that all apart?

Thanks for the heads up. This actually surprises me. I'll check out the Oregon Revised Statutes regarding the matter. I suppose just wiring them up normal is more simple, but I've learned over the years that being seen is a good thing. Especially at night.

Anyway, thanks for the heads up.

Totally agree with 'being seen'! I checked with a NYS inspection station and the NYS Police, both gave the same answer....they don't care IF you have running lights in the rear and IF YOU DO, they don't care if they are amber or red!

This is very surprising for NY, but that's what they said! :ummm:

Well, gave it a thought once more and kinda figured it out, turns out i lost 1 of the 2 provided plastic (fasteners?). Then the spring goes between the bolt and that white (fastener?). Its just a pain in the A$$ to put it all in place thats all...

Thanx for the help fellas, i will post a couple of pics of the newly done blinkers hopefully by today

good madmax, its kind of a pita, take a look at the microfiche as well....

danny, i dunno i could see if u got a ticket for it, and then not having proof or something thats all bud!

I agree with ya on that and really wish I did have it in writing but NY's finest just don't operate like that.

I do however!.....perhaps I could duplicate the state police logo....."To Whom It May Concern.....the bearer of this document......blah, blah.....Hmmmm!! :hmmm:

You gave me a good idea there Garrett!! :punk:

Well, here is the promised picture, i only managed to install the front ones for now, and still havent installed springs in my headlight...
