My voo-doo 4 into 2 pipes are yellowing. I have only put about 350 miles on the bike since I've gotten it, but the pipe yellowing has gone nearly the length of the pipes, and is starting down the actual mufflers now. I have read this can be due to a tuning issue, so my first question is where would be the best place to get a tuneup (since I think she needs one anyway) here around Harrisburg, PA (I'm looking to get it tuned this fall). And I'm trying a compound called "out of the blue" to remove the yellowing in the mean time. I'll post here with how it does.

Other than that the bike is running pretty well, no hesitation at ALL on acceleration, pops a little when just maintaining speed, though I don't think I've ever been around a Max that wasn't happiest when it was just going balls to the wall 0-60.

That's normal for some types of stainless steel. I use a scotch brite pad on mine (already has a brushed finish) and it comes clean......only to come back after a while.

Tuning won't help IMO.......If they were really blue in color, then you could have a lean condition.

My Kerker 4 / 1 system has the "yellow" look as well and your performance and popping sounds very similar to my Max. From all I've read on this subject it sounds pretty normal Joe. My bike idles smoothly and pulls strongly with just the occasional pop at a steady throttle setting.

Chris.

Ok, sounds good. I don't know though, that yellow tint really pisses me off, I guess I'll just have to resolve to frequent elbow grease to keep it off the pipes. :)

My Mark's SS pipes do get that gold hueing color but it takes a lot longer than 350 miles, more 3-4 thousand. Mark's pipes are not highly polished (to chrome like levels) to begin with though. I normally will polish the cans once or twice during the riding season but only do the pipes during winter down time.

I have a 4 into 1 Supertrapp, and they were fine until I changed out the packing to some ceramic type of baffling, and now the can is starting to turn gold.

i hate chrome or stainless exhaust pipes. takes to much time to keep it clean. i thought only harley guys liked chrome pipes, lol.
my max has the stock flat black pipes, and flat black super trapp slip ons. the chrome end caps do yellow, but i use turtle wax chrome polish, or i use never dull to clean them back up.

Someone here turned me on to Barkeeper's Friend. Worked awesome on my stock pipes. I highly recommend it.
