Lucky man.. I'm a sportbike guy, I'd KILL to test ride one of these.. I work at a Honda/Yamaha/Suzuki dealer, so I get to ride new GSXR's, CBR's and R1's, but the BMW is pretty much on an entirely different level.
Right about now is when I'm regretting moving back to the midwest.. I've only done the Flats in a car, but I've heard it gets covered in gravel pretty badly. You MUST treat yourself and head to Tucson, go up and down Mt. Lemmon. You'll probably have to wait until spring but it's well worth the wait.
So damn true.. I actually just moved from Phoenix, only got to hit Yarnell and 89 a few times.. Have you been to Mt. Lemmon? IMHO, puts Yarnell/89 to shame.
We just started receiving something similar at work. They come in 2 sizes, retail for 110 and 150, have 2 year warranty's and both weigh less than 2 lbs. It's awesome. Sucks I just picked up a new lead-acid for my R1, otherwise I'd hop all over it.
Has anyone purchased them? They have every body piece available in CF.
Scoops- 999.95
Meter cover- 222.95
Front fender- I think 299.95
Rear fender- Somewhere around 500
Side covers- also around 500
I can't remember the exact prices, but I was just curious if anyone had purchased them. I'm...
That being said, I do have a few complaints about the Gen 2. The fuel economy SUCKS!!! The low speed and part throttle fueling is a little twitchy. Traction is an issue in the first 2 gears.
I've been riding a 2002 R1 for the last year, so my opinion may be slightly biased..
I rode a gen 1 (06) for the first time tuesday of last week after putting fork seals in it. It had great power and torque, felt light for what it was, and it actually turned decently. Definitely not as fast as...
Agreed, I performed the recall on one on saturday, it really is a simple job. Just have to make sure to line all the gears back up. I've heard of people not getting the oil pump gear lined up to the gear on the back of the basket and bad stuff happening because of it.
