ROFL Love it :D During my short period of owning a max, i had no problems with Harley riders, or any other for that matter. The old Harley riders knew what type of bike it was and would stay back. It was more the 20yo clowns in V8's. Needless to say a few lessons were handed out ;)

Those new 1500cc Thunderbirds are awesome! As for the max. I found the stock seat uncomfortable on longer distance and was going to look at a custom seat before i had too many problems and took the bike back. So i would look at one of those first, unless you are hankering for a new bike that is :)

Thanks! I have to admit, this bike flies! The torque is absolutely amazing. One hell of an arm stretcher :D . It is very responsive due to the EFI set up. Looks like i will get around 300-350km out of the 21 L tank

LOL. Not sure what you mean by 'muck oil' as in oil that needs changing? Spoke with my mechanic about it. He stated the heads would have to come off, but it seemed to me like he was talking about doing it with the block still in the frame??

Hi MM. Thanks for the input! I had my wife follow me yesterday. It was only once, but after heavy acceleration, when i would drop the revs, she saw smoke puff of 'grey smoke' out of one side. Otherwise there was no smoke. I will keep an eye on it for a few dyas and see how it goes

Definitely go a bike with reasonable km on it that is used regularly. I bought a 1992 max 4 weeks ago with only 13800km on it. Can you guys suggest parts that probably SHOULD be replaced when the carbs are done (besides gaskets obviously). Don't want to have to go back into them again. Bike started playing up even more today. First the idle dropped a few hundred rpm by itself, and now it is stumbling, popping and back firing. Have booked in with my local mechanic Brett to fully rebuild the carbs, that is 2 weeks away, so will be riding the mountain bike for about 3 weeks :bang...

Hi Kev, thanks for your input. The bike started stalling the second day i had it (actually round the cnr from Brett's shop) and so i took it to Brett for that and then again to fix a leaking clutch slave. Damn straight he does a good job, it seems like most of the Vmax's in town are worked on...

Intake boots are all good. When i float along it almost sounds like it is out of tune til you raise the revs a little. Just feels like it is maybe hesitating and jerky when floating, but straight away responds with ANY increase in throttle. Maybe it is just like this cause i modded the muffler...
