Hey guys,

Not 100% yet, but i may get to make some 1/8mi passes on a stk 08 Busa. Thought it might be fun to see what kinda times ya'll think it might run w/ an old fat guy on it?(me)

Guessing the DA at the track will be 2000-3000ft(have seen it over 6000ft!). The bike is lowered in the rear and will prolly be strapped up front. Otherwise its stone stk right down to the gearing. Oh, will prolly remove the cans more for them being out of the way and not burn my calves!
I'll prolly be 205 suited and i've not made a pass down a track in over 18mo. Have not made any serious passes on a stk wheelbase bike in over 2years.

Any guesses???

@ 210lbs I ran a best of 6.70 @ 110mph but that was on an 02. Stock except for aftermarket forged wheels.

If you can get it into the low 1.6's high 1.5's you'll go 6.40-6.50. The 08 busa doesn't MPH quite as well as the 14's do for some reason, but they've got the balls down low. I would say first time out if it's lowered at stock wheelbase shoot for 6.60 - 6.70. Here's a time slip from my 14 with the stock pipes lowered and strapped with a DA of about 4500-5000ft. you can see from the 330ft that i had some wheelie problems and had to get out of it a little in first, but other than that it was a pretty solid run. The Altitude there and the fact that my stock clutches were already weak at that point really zapped my MPH. With good fibers i've run as high as 119 mph at stock wheelbase. I was 195 lbs in shorts then as well.

Some good runs there! Dunno what i'll be able to do. Good, bad or ugly, I should see in a few hours. You pulled as much as 119mph with the stk exhaust??? Only piped/PC'd 14's pull that out here in good air(for out here anyway).

Well, i just got back. Dunno if it was me or the clutch. Had fits with the front end. Launch at 4500 and it would bog slightly(stk gearing, 205lb rider). Launch at 5000 and clutch was like a light switch. Clutch was kinda grabby right off the line. Clutch lever was missing 1-1.5"(owner tiped it over in the driveway) so maybe i was having issues with that? Bike had 8500mi on it. Dunno what condition the clutches were in. Also had some trouble shifting. Missed several 2-3 shifts(on a couple of good passes too!)

I'll post up slips in a bit(gotta get changed and get sump'n to eat!). First pass of the day was 6.43 @ 115mph(can't remember the 60'. 1.67 or so i think). Best pass of the day was 6.30 @ 116mph(1.61 60').

Ok, here is the good, bad and the ugly...

In the order i ran them:

60' 1.6729
330' 4.2928
1/8 6.4396 @ 115.06mph

60' 1.6617
330' 4.2915
1/8 6.4142 @ 116.07

60' 1.6741
330' 4.2955
1/8 6.4794 @ 110.27mph (missed a 2-3 shift)

60' 1.6442
330' 4.2028
1/8 6.3169 @ 116.31mph

60' 1.6354
330' 4.2509
1/8 6.3772 @ 115.65mph (high wheelie just past the 60')

60' 1.7199
330' 4.3661
1/8 6.4921 @ 115.83mph (front end was like a pogo stick!)

60' 1.7503
330' 4.3464
1/8 6.4614 @ 116.25mph (Big wheelies here!)

60' 1.6632
330' 4.2797
1/8 6.4185 @ 114.59mph(missed 2nd gear here!)

60' 1.6462
330' 4.2884
1/8 6.4235 @ 115.33mph(Pogoed again...)

60' 1.6527
330' 4.2935
1/8 6.4254 @ 115.41mph(getting frustrated with the clutch/front end!)

60' 1.6120
330' 4.1836
1/8 6.3021 @ 116.13mph(Front was still up and down but was somewhat tame)

60' 1.6433
330' 4.3339
1/8 6.4816 @ 114.80(skyshots again AND missed 3rd!))

60' 1.6534
330' 4.2567
1/8 6.4496 @ 103.33(missed 3rd! Just let off and coasted through)

Gave up after that. Had to launch at 4500 and it was just not enough rpm. Front was a little more tame but rpm pulled down. The more i think about it, the more i think the factory lockup inner hub was causing me problems. I would also like to see a couple more teeth on the rear sprocket. Now i know i'm as prone as anyone to just plain goof up, but i'm normally much more consistant than this! Granted, this was not my bike and i've not made ANY passes in almost 2years.
Ah, well. It was fun. I know that given more seat time i could have hit a 6.2 something but i was hoping for more. I've run high 6.teens with my old 04 Busa(stk wheelbase/stk exhaust/stk ecu(no pc)/stk airbox) at this very track. I've also run a best of 6.27 on a stk wheelbase 02 ZX-12(strapped/lowered/piped/stk ecu(no pc)) at this track. Lemme tell ya, that bike gave me fits! DA today was 3500ft. Actually decent air for out here.
With the clutch addressed and maybe a tooth or two out back, i'm sure 6.teens would be fairly easy with me on it(with more seat time ofcourse).

I know this is not a Busa site, just thought some might be interested. Guess i was wrong:confused2:

I am interested Mark but I don't know much about drag racing. I have been listening to the link Gary put up for the last few hours, it seems there are a few racers out Michigan. I'm gonna have to get the info where they run at in Michigan and start showing up.

I love drag racing.......

I just have no experience to base numbers on....

I have no local track......

Just the backroads!!!!!

So any thing I said would be pure speculation:confused2:

With consistency like that, you might look into a career.

My runs were similar to... 8.1 @ 90mph..6.70 @ 110....7.8 @ 92mph...13.2 @ 45mph. heh.
