Anyone ever try the eBay gas rear shocks?

Do you mean the nitrogen-filled ones sold by one guy in France and another in Taiwan?

I wondered the same - I remember someone here stating they were made in China, but I got no report yet as to good or bad from anyone actually using them..

I seem to remember somebody saying they were shit. You get what you pay for most of the time, and that seems to be the case whit these cheap shocks.

There's the answer then :eusa_dance:

For only $166 there are Progressive 412 shocks on eBay (13" but listed for Harleys)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...STRK:MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=260181958576&rd=1

Also for $200 there are Progressive 412 (albeit 12.5")
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...STRK:MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=180158401287&rd=1

or for $300 there are Progressive 440 (13" stock length)
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...STRK:MEWA:IT&viewitem=&item=180292583602&rd=1

last two look at lot better, and many here seem to swear by Progressive.
Not too sure about the first link as there's no picture of the actual shocks.
Also my bike hardly wobbles with 12.5" shocks (old style Progressive possibly but not sure) but wobbles like crazy in a straight line (!) with 13" OEM shock..:bang head:

If I could afford them I would try the 440's.. :punk:

Progressive 418's are another option. They have adjustable damping which the 412's do not have. Cost more though.

I've tried them, they pretty much suck. The preload nut has to be tightened way down to keep them from bottoming out. I had to use a vise to adjust them that far, then the aluminum threads began to strip out. Plus none of the rubber bushings/steel inserts that come with them fit over the shock studs.

We got set form a Vmaxer that was having problems with them. We ended up using them on a Fazer which is considerably lighter bike (as is the rider of this one). They are made for scooters!

Re: Another "get What You Pay For?"

don't know much about shocks, so i'll let someone else speak on that regard...

but...

the shitty mspaint way of showing dimensions on the pics bugs me. if you sell a great product you could make that look better in 5 minutes...

my $.02

Re: Another "get What You Pay For?"

Those shocks are JUNK!!! Know of several people that made the mistake of buying them. Too light, made for a scooter. Buyer beware.

A local guy, the VMOA regional Director here, tried a pair and they are total crap, they don't fit for shit, and even if they did they'd suck anyhow.

Quality external gas reservoir shocks with separate adjustment for compression and rebound are more like $1000.....
