Can anyone confirm the proper way to test a starter relay?

Yamaha manual states disconnect starter relay, probe blue/white wire coming from the relay - should test 12V.

Can anyone with a working relay confirm this?

Thanks.

I saw from your other thread that you have already tested the starter relay, and it was good. You should be able to eliminate the relay itself as the source of your problem.
That blue/white wire that feeds the starter relay originates at the multi-function relay unit (9 pin), located under the left side scoop.
The Clymer manual outlines how to test for continuity of this unit, but to simplify testing-
-the unit recieves power from the black/red wire, coming from the downstream side of the engine stop switch. So with the ignition on, and the stop switch in the run position, there should be battery voltage going into the black/red wire at the relay unit.
The starter switch is also channeled thru this same relay unit, by way of another blue/white wire. So with the ignition on, this wire as well should have battery voltage at the relay, when the starter switch is pressed on. Doing this should supply power to the blue/white wire going to the starter relay, (providing the relay unit is working properly), and this should fire your bike up.
Let us know how you do.
Cheers!

We've found seveal flaws in the OEM manual over the years. Key off. Disconnect & Ground the blue and white wire with a jumper inserted in the bullet connector, on the relay side of the circuit. The relay should work. You'll hear it click even if the starter isn't connected.
