Yeah, I got to go where real criminals get to stay when they get caught.... Never thought I would end up there. Never though a speeding ticket would be so expensive either! I could have gotten my Max bored out to 1500cc with the price of that ticket! Damm it!:bang head:

I got caught at 49 mph over last fall but I was lucky he only wrote me for 30 mph over. It only cost me $165 and 4 points on my license. At 35 mph over in Michigan you get braclets and bike gets impounded, so the sheriff was nice to me.

Jeez, my 17 over cost me over $300....AFTER bargaining it down to a "failure to obey traffic device" ticket.

As you live in New York it is par for the course they nail you to the wall. Now all tickets have a huge surcharge any where from $100-200 per ticket on top of the normal fine.:bang head: One more reason I don't like this state anymore :damn angry::damn angry:

This reminds me... any good radar detectors out there? Had one years ago but don't know what is a good one is these days.

My last ticket was for 95 km (59 mph) in a 50 km (31 mph) zone, that was $307 price tag. That was almost 2 yrs. ago. Right after i got that shocker, it was time for a change. Not my riding habits, my lic. plate location. I made a bracket that is curved the same as the rear brake rotor and mounted on the left side of my Max, it looks cleaner, and oddly enough is just out of site for photo radar.

Hi Tom,

I ride using an Escort 9500ix which is considered one of the best on the market unless you go up to a jammer:

This has built in GPS capability that besides the normal x, k, & ka bands it ties into a database and alerts you to speed traps and red light cameras. There are downloadable databases that update the locations and you can store your own on the device. I now ride my trips with this and its great. Its pricey but worth not having THAT ticket!!!

I use this regularly in my SUV daily too.

I got cought when I was younger in my 73 Nova for 108 in a 30 got pretty lucky the girl I was dating knew the cop & I got off for 55 instead of a 108 & the cop followed me home & took my keys for the night & brought them back the next day.

I just got a warning for 10 over in a constuction zone. I guess my diving record was so clean he gave me a break. I have this feeling my record might be tarnished soon though so I gotta get me one of those Escort 9500ix units.

Someone tell me about the jammer.. And where do you mount it on the bike where it can be seen but also hidden..:confused2: If the cop would have seen a detector I don't think I would have gotten off with a warning.

I actually got a ticket for a legitimate 10 KMPH (that's 6mph) over the posted speed limit.
90kmph in an 80kmph zone...

the police officer said "Congradulations, you have been caught in our speed trap. We will be set up here for the next two days. Feel free to warn your friends and family!"

Ah well :)

I was doing roughly twice the speed limit.... which was 65, and it cost me a lot, around $2,800. I was charged with reckless driving, and had to spend about eight hours in jail with some of the finer citizens in Texas..., which is one level less than DUI in Texas. I had to get a lawyer to get the reckless driving reduced to a speeding ticket. Lets just say I will be a little more selective when grabbing a handful of throttle... but will still push the Max here and there.

Oh and by the way, if your caught doing twenty over the speed limit in Texas, you go to jail and they charge you with reckless driving. Just a FYI.

Well, good to know...
Mr. DPS seemed very well informed about alot of things, but he neglected to mention that ... although speeding wasn't anything even close to what we were doing. I mean, 57 in a 60??
I do know that he has the right to pull you over if you don't ride with a helmet in order to check to see if you meet the insurance requirements .... NOW!!
