Generator case

I'm working on putting new stator in vmax but noticed that the case has heli coil in the screw holes for the pick up assemblies, so instead of having M6 screws it has I believe are M2 or M4. I had to tap one of the screw holes for the stator as when I removed case from engine I noticed only 2 screws holding on stator. I screwed in the smaller screws to see if they get a good bite and seems like they do. So my question is do you think it will be OK with the smaller screws holding the pick up assemblies? The 1 picture shows the stator screw hole I had to tap.

If you can snug them up w/o stripping out they should be OK. I see two large & 3 smaller ones.

They should all be large screws Medic, but I just tried to assemble and they are stripped out even the 1 stator screw I tapped yesterday. So I'm looking for a new case and I found one in the U.K. so that is ordered. I need a schematic of the 85-92 vmax generator if anybody knows where to find one I appreciate the help. The 85-92 take 2 pick up assemblies from what I read in the Clymer manual and all the schematics I find are for 1 pick up assembly. I checked all schematics on Partzilla and Ron Ayers.

Partially correct.

1985-1989 are two pick-ups/5 wires in the nylon plug

1990-2007 are a single pick-up, two wires in the nylon plug.

Are the stator different also?

You know, check the part numbers, and see if the numbers are different I suggest Ron Ayres Yamaha fiches.

When I removed stator they was no part# 8, 9 or 15? Don't know what you mean about fiches, you talking about the schematics? Got my new case and ready to assemble, not sure where 9 & 15 go. HELP
