Can anyone confirm that your fuel filler cap looks like this?

Or could you post a bunch of pics? I have the tank, but no cap.

That one looks pretty close, good find! I tried to find a cap for the tank but soon gave up. It would be nice if you could see a section through the cap and a bolt layout. Could be a little tricky to install those threaded bars. Glue, Weld,
Will they take it back if it won't work?

i think you could spot weld those thread bars under the tank filler opening and be good to go if the bolt pattern is the same. I would think you could make a call to verify the bolt pattern. You have most likely thought of all this, hope it works.

Really good find.

Those are screws.
You lay the gasket on top of the tank. Mark and center punch the holes.
Drill the holes big enough for the screws to pass though.
Lay the cap on the tank and open it up.
Fish 1/2 of the 2 piece flange thru the opening and fasten it loosely with the screws.
Fish the 2nd half of the flange thru the opening and fasten it loosely.
Tighten up all the screws and done.
Shouldn't be too bad of a job pending you mark and drill correctly.
