As discussed in other posts, I loved the sound of my full UFO exhaust but the loudness was really hard on my ears even with earplugs.

As an experiment, I stuffed the cans with steel wool and was quite surprised at the results. Obviously this was temporary.

Today I used some galvanized wire mesh. I cut it to length (10") and wrapped it around a 1 1/8" dowel. I then wrapped it with stainless steel wool and wrapped it again with more mesh. I used hose clamps to squeeze the whole package tight around the dowel and then removed the clamps.

I then slid the entire metal contraption into the exhaust cans and then pulled the dowel out.

The raspy edges of the outer layer of mesh secure the baffle securely within the can.

The sound is great. Still sounds bad-ass at idle but is very bearable while riding.

Cost: $20.

Time: 60 mins.

Sorry that I didn't take pics but I think you get the idea.

But here's a pic of my bikes just for fun.
