How are cylinders numbered

I've read several post on this and some can be confusing so I figured if I just ask in this simple way somone who knows can answer by simply putting the number next to the cylinders

Starting with the left side what are the cylinder numbers.

This is how it is my friend: the arrow in the picture is where the front wheel is. Straight out of the Yamaha Service manual, which you can download for free from vmaxoutlaw.com.

So as you're sitting on the bike:

- rear left is #1
- front left is #2

-rear right is #3
-front right is #4
