Tell me what you think of this idea guys.

After nearly getting a ticket today I decided to start working on a new mod.

I thought this up today after running by a cop. As I passed him I glanced down at my Cobra radar detector and it was in full alert mode but seeing I'm running a Holeshot 4>2 exhaust system and had my helmet on I could not hear a damn thing.

The Plan,
I am going to mount the detectors Wave guide in my left scoop. Then I plan on tapping power off the Alert LED to run a vibrator from an old cell phone and incorporate that into a small wrist band on my right arm. This solves two problems for me. The detector will be safe from being stolen and most importantly I will know when its going off without having to take my eyes off the road.

Once done and tested I will post pictures of the installation procedure. That is if it works the way I believe it will.

plus 1 on that, It would be nice if there was led light 1 that could flash green yellow red that could mount right on the handle bar mount bracket.

You need to get a H.A.R.D. kit: http://www.legalspeeding.com/HARD-System.htm#.U39CGKPD9D8
Or maybe a Vizalert:

I went with an Adaptiv radar unit hard wired to my bike. http://www.adaptivtechnologies.com/gear/tpx-radar-detector

After buying it, I sent it to Marc Parnes in Cali to have him make one of his visual alert units to match. http://www.marcparnes.com/Visual_Alert.htm

He sent me a unit and it works as designed - flawlessly. And for must people, that would be enough. Thousands sold. Unfortunately, I am partially color blind, and in full daylight and with his visual alert mounted on top of my clutch master, positioned to shine directly at my face, I just don't see it at all when I need to.

So I went back to the Adaptiv site and ordered the matching Bluetooth convertor for their detector and route it through my Sena headset. I can hear that going off just fine, but it requires me to keep the headset on, and fully charged for each ride, whether or not I intended to communicate with the significant other that day, or was planning a solo ride etc.

I used to take my radar detectors apart, find the little piezoelectric speaker and soldered an earphone jack and use an earphone that way I can hear the detector...now all my vehicles have veterans plates, plus I carry my military ID card along with my drivers licence; I have not gotten a speeding ticket since 1995....
