I got to work this morning and as soon as our morning meeting was over clicked on my favorite of my favorites and lo and behold I got the companys big freaking red screen of death, no business purpose stop sign...

Blogs and Forums not allowed.....

knew it was gonna happen someday but just can't help myself....

I'm hoping it was a random block due to useage and not targeted at me for later "dialog" with my superintendent, I guess I'll find out next week when he comes back from vacation if he got a nasty gram from the IT department...

Anyway...to make a long story short I won't be logging on here during working hours anymore which means hardly ever,...too damn busy at home usually to get near a computer although I'm sure I'll start making time now....

I'll try to keep in touch but if anyone is wondering where the hell I am that's what's up..Later guys,

at my old company ...after i left...i heard of an incident where someone sent a dirty pic or video to his other buddies at work, If you even received the email you were fired. Stupid but to be on the receiving end, even if by accident, would suck

There are free proxies you can use, like www.stopblockz.com, and many others, just google "proxy software" or "bypass firewall surfing" . There is also software to run your own encrypted proxy that will bypass your companies firewall. If you want help with this, PM me as I have set this up for others before.

I think I'm gonna back away from this one, it's one thing to get spanked for excessive internet useage, but getting caught using a proxy or firewall ladder would result in immediatte termination. This is a 20 billion dollar company I work for so I think thier IT is probably a little ahead of the game from anything I could come up with. Before I think it was a random block but from now I think eyes are going to be on me specifically since my user account was associatted with all the traffic to this forum. I'm at home right now by the way....

We've had guys that passed thier drug tests with flying colors; EXCEPT that they found chemicals in the urine designed to mask the drugs, That also results in inmmediate termination.

I kind of equivocate the two as being the same. Tampering with company systems or that sort of thing......

I really appreciatte the offer but I've been with this company for 19 years and am just going to play by the rules from now on, can't risk it.....

Yup, lots of company proxies will detect any use of a bypass proxie. Had one of my fellow IT guy's test on due to a normal worker mkaing comments that he could get around the company firewall and within 10min of the test, the proxie team was calling our boss wanting to know what the hell our guy was trying to pull.

The big companies just don't screw around anymore in this arena. Thankfully, the company I work for isn't too harsh when it comes to forums. Though they do have just about every video site on the net blocked. Thats somewhat understadnable though due to bandwidth.

I am the IT guy at work and we log everything!
But we dont enforce rules that much unless its porn or bad stuff.

Some think I read all the emails, LOL 3k a day is a lot to read and do work.

Buy your own laptop to take to work hell ya can buy em now on ebay for under 400.00
My work VPN is the same way on our PC's so I just bring my personal laptop to work with me.
I would go crazy at work with no internet
