:confused2:Anyone tried the new synthetic Mobil 1 5W-40 Turbo Diesel Truck oil? I have been talking with Exxon-Mobil to see how it compares to Mobil Delvac 1 5W-40 synthetic, and they are telling me that there would be no performance advantage of using one over the other, although the formulation is different. The Delvac 1 is for commercial use, and the Turbo Diesel Truck oil is for consumer use.:confused2:

Would be nice if they are essentially the same oil, as the Turbo Diesel Truck oil is available at O'Reilly autoparts stores.

Here are links to both the Delvac 1 and Turbo Diesel Truck oils on the Mobile 1 site, they both have the CJ-4 rating.

Below is the last email I got from Exxon-Mobil on this question.

"The Delvac is marketed for the commercial side and will have more
formal approvals vs. the M1 TDT 5W40 is more of a retail product
(Powerstroke, Cummins, Duramax), the formulations are slightly different
however that is proprietary information. You would not get any advantage
one over the other."

As long as they aren't "energy conserving" I'm sure you're just fine!

I use the Rotella 5W40 with great results.
