Is there a way to take apart the oem mirrors without smashing them?

I like the field of vision the stock mirrors offer but want them black.

I agree with you Dan. I tried to remove the glass on a ruined mirror and had no luck. I also want black ones.

Too bad I didnt know this last week. There was a gent selling black mirrors that were VERY close to OEM appearance for $40 at the show last weekend. They also included the necessary adaptor for the right side mirror which is normally another $20 or so if you have to buy seperately.

I have seen some that look really close to oem but the glass just doesn't have the same convexity (cool word....eh?) so you don't get the same field of view.

Think I agree with G, the best chance for success lies in not taking them apart to begin with, just rough up the chrome and Krylon them.
