Prior to doing the "Shotgun", I thought I would check the plug condition. The first photo shows the rear plugs, the next the fronts.
You will notice that all the porcelain insulators are on the whitish side, only the right rear has signs of tan colouration. As well, both r.h.s. plugs have a slight grayish deposit on the side electrode, the lefts are both darker in colour. The plug gaps on all are still good.
The a.f. screws have only been adjusted once, about 22,000 km. ago, following the bike's only valve check. I found all the screws to be out 3+ turns.
The plugs don't look in bad shape to me, and excellent compared to some of the train wrecks illustrated in the Clymer manual.
But what do you think? Should the insulators be more on the tan-coloured side? After cleaning the carbs, should I put the mixture screws back to the "as found" position?
Thanks in advance, Miles
