Hey Guys...

When I installed the newer fuel tank on Max, it came without the sending unit. I've installed my old one, but, the red wire is no longer attached to the bottom lead (corroded through). Am I missing a float or something on this???

Does this have any affect on the reserve tank function?

Would leaving this unplugged from the harness cause problems other than no low fuel light?

What actually makes the reserve function work???

Thanks
Neil

The fuel sender is what turns on your low fuel light and also trips the fuel pump relay so that the fuel pump shuts off. Eventually your float bowls will empty and the sputtering begins. Flip the reserve fuel switch and this then trips the relay so the pump starts filling up the carbs again.

Everything will work fine w/o the fuel sender. you just won't know you're getting low on gas unless you check with a flashlight or fill-up when your trip meter reaches a certain point.
