We have a friend that has a very small boat that would be scary fast with a Vmax engine in it. I can't remember the brand but it's designed for open water and is MAYBE 10' long MAYBE.

The funny thing is, nobody has broken the water speed record (317mph) since Spirit of Australia set in in the 70s. The guy built the boat from scratch in his backyard and got the aircraft jet engine from an auction for a couple hundred bucks.

With the multi-million sponsorships, space age materials and new technologies, nobody has even come close to topping a boat some guy built in his backyard 30 years ago on the cheap.
