Ok guys I want to upgrade my brakes as my rotors are way to thin and pulse badly and pretty much no pads left. I want to start with just bolt on parts like newer calipers and rotors but like I said just stick with simple bolt on stuff. From what I've read the r1 calipers will bolt on the rear not sure on the front:confused2: then still not sure on rotors. This is all going on my 06 thanks guys any help would be greatly appreciated

Good stock rotors and H&H pads with braided steel lines will make a world of difference. Just make sure you buy rotors from a 93 or newer because those are the ones that fit your bike. You can do more but for 95% of people that's just fine really.

As far as bolts ons, I did the 6pot calipers from the mid 90's YZF-750 and FZR 1000. They are bolt on, a set of the chinese wavy rotors, and steel braided brake lines.

Ive riden on a bike with just the R1's before....and there wasnt a lot of travel to the brake lever, there is MORE travel with the 6 pot calipers...but to each his own.

Here is a post that should answer a lot of questions.

R1 is direct bolt on for the front, but require an adapter for the rear. If I was doing it again, I'd go 6-pot or busa/320mm rotor.

But note that the hole for the R1 banjo bolt is 90º to the OE calliper and you would need to twist the hose to get it to fit. Not a good long term solution so a set of braided lines would be a good investment.

Agree with the comment about the short travel which makes the lever feel wooden.
Smaller diameter (13 mm) M/C will sort.
