Blurr, That Sucks, but atleast you're safe and not stranded in the middle of nowhere Alaska...

Oh I made Popper Stoppers for my Exhaust Systems. I'll post pictures of what they are soon
as they're all the way finished...

Rode up to Anchorage to do some shopping. About 2 miles from Anchorage the bike suddenly got extremely loud. Pulled over and looked it over and found that the exhaust clamp had come off on the number 4 cylinder. Road over to the dealer with crossed fingers. Bad news, they only had one nut, good news, they put it on in the parking lot free of charge.

What did i do today? I limped home and put my bike up to wait for my nut to show up.
That sucks, but I guess it could have been worse! I will have to check mine tomorrow before I get Redbone blessed. I hopefully have a 2000+ mile trip coming up next week end and losing exhaust bolt(s) would not be fun! Maybe I'll add a couple to travel kit.

A nice 280 mi. ride up to Dixon and then around lake Berryessa,Wooden Valley, Fairfield and back to Dixon. Stopped at cycle gear in Fairfield to see a modded gen.1, but the guy wasn't working. I saw a picture. usd forks, 300 tire, sport bike fender w/underseat exhaust. The picture was awesome. I'm definitely going back during the week to check it out. All day was eat a Harley day. Then a fast trip from Dixon back to Modesto . I love my Escort Redline radar detector. No more 55 on hwy 12. Tomorrow I start on changing wheels.

Yeah, it's a 3/8" line routed under the pillion with a ball valve under the rack. Here it is before mounting the tank.
Thanks, would like to do something similar after I finish the first order of business w/the bike. Did you fab or have-done the aux. tank or is it avail from a jobber? I have thought about a swap-on below the rack w/the cargo space above, & perhaps some additional bracing for the rear of the rack to make it rock-solid for fuel loads & a reasonable rack load. I was thinking of a trapezoidal shape to follow the contours of the sissy bar & well-inside so that it wouldn't be at risk of rupturing in the event of an accident. Maybe something taller & longer front-to-back than wider... . Two to three extra gallons, by then I think my kidneys need a break!

So, did you tie-into the gas line by the fuel pump? Thanks about the ball-valve for the aux. tank.

same thing happened to mine last year, luckily i was only a couple miles from home. i use blue loctite on those nuts now.

I bought the tank from a guy who had it custom-fabbed. He used it for a year, then bought a Yammie FJR with something like a 6-gal tank, so didn't need it any more.
I make and sell the rack for the 3rd-gen Magna and 1st-gen VMax. it is machined from solid 1/2" plate, very strong, requires no extra bracing. I actually have not tied the fuel line into the fuel system yet, maybe later. I just left a few extra inches of line next to the filler cap under the seat. I ride until the fuel light comes on, then stop and open the cap, poke the line down into the tank, and open the ball valve. Takes a little under 3 minutes to empty the aux tank into the main. Then I ride another 80 miles or so, and the fuel light comes on again, and I still have my reserve. I really don't mind stopping after a couple of hours and stretching my legs while transferring the fuel. As I said, it only takes about 3 minutes, then I'm on my way again.
If you are serious about wanting a tank to mount on a rack, there is a company called Tour Tank who makes various sizes. http://www.tourtank.com

Just bought a Superbike bar, AP bar end mirrors (here is to no more tipovers), and a cool new headlight stay.

Gonna be a fun time, since I've never done a bar swap before.

Nothing to the max......
went for my first ride of the year on Saturday. Had to take my bosses Harley. It was nice to get to get out for a bit.

Played around with the cr5. New pads, front rotor, swapped calipers to newer ones over the winter. New brake fluid and bleed. Took it for the first test run of the year. Its ready for a trip to elk county next weekend. Hopefully no wrecks or tickets this year!

This morning I got to ride about 150 miles before I had my bike blessed by a tribal elder but our planned ride afterward was rained out. The Harley bunch beat it to the closest bar, I went home after filling up and added the last of 3 BG44k treatments to the tank. I don't think Redbone likes BG44k as much as Seafoam, but like a good little patient she's gonna finish up her meds. :punk:

Redbone's sittin' proud there Brian, in amongst the 'no-names' and brand X's! :rofl_200:

How does she act with the 44K? Don't think I ever noticed any difference when doing a treatment.

Doesn't idle as smooth as she did before, and will "sneeze" at low throttle (2-3000 rpms) inputs when almost to operating temps which didn't happen before. Other than that she runs just fine. Clean air filter, new plugs (.025) with COPs, new fuel filter and carbs synced. I've only have about 350 miles on it so far this season, first tank was the gas it was stored with over the winter (w/ seafoam) I'm going to put a couple hundred miles in on Wednesday and mess with the A/F a bit if it is still acting up.

That BG stuff is pretty powerful, maybe when she finishes up her 'meds' and gets a couple IV's of pure go-juice she'll straighten out....ya think?

Although pure go-juice is a thing of the past around here! :bang head:

I think when Woody PM'd me it made me remember that on the fill-up before I added the second treatment they were getting a fuel delivery. I know I should have waited but the gas stations are few and far between around here, I was on reserve and I get a 35 cent discount there.
I gonna give it a couple of tanks before I start making any changes since it was running pretty good before.

Definitely a good idea to try and avoid filling up soon after a fuel drop....you would not believe the amount of shit that's in the bottoms of those tanks...I know the filters are s'posed to take care of that, and the pumps are designed to not pump water....blah, blah....don't believe it! :punk:

Final drive oil change, engine oil and filter change, went with the long Boch filter this time.New plugs gapped to .030. New fuel filter. Didn't take long for ethanol crud to form. Changed it 2500 miles ago.
Steve-o

Today I changed the oil. I didn't have a new oil filter though. And the thought of having to remove the scoop and the forward foot pegs just so I can remove that massive bolt thing in front of the oil filter made me cringe.

Ugh ... I guess I'll get the filter and go for it. At least she has fresh oil.
