when you say your tacho was jumping super fast without reving the motor , uou mean for example your engine was actually aboyt 2000 rpm and the tacho was showing istand veryhigher rpm that actualy your engine didnt ? then i thing your are going for a bad ignition unit.

odyssey pc680 is the best battery for the V-max you should find many on ebay.
