Keep in mind changing the length will change the power characteristics of the engine. Longer stacks will reduce horsepower, but you will gain some TQ in the low and midrange rpm.

The Diavel is really a sport bike that they lowered and put a fat rear tire on. It is fairly light, and makes good power for a 1200. Doesn't provide the visceral feeling of power you get on a Gen2 however. Anybody that's owned both will tell you that.

Correct! That's what they've been going for. So obviously that is what some owners are willing to pay. They were not cheap from the factory to begin with, they are no longer made and a lot of Gen 2 owners like them. They are designed specifically for the bike, and they match the other factory...

Diavel is not so hot. Its a twin first of all, its reliability is horrible as compared to a Gen 2, and its more expensive. The Gen2 handles just fine and I've smoked 2 Diavels quite easily with my 2009 VMax.

Just a heads up......the Avon Cobra is a taller tire, it affects handling and seat height. I personally did not like it and took it off in short order. Others owners have been happy with it.

+1 Change them all out to aluminum. It makes a difference you can feel.

Yes a big job. If I remember correctly, removing the front engine mount (as well as a bunch of other stuff) allows the engine to pivot and hang down providing clear access.
