Help! 2001 rear brake rotor torque??

Yes 14 lbft. As a sanity check, these appear to be M8 bolts; the max torque for M8 steel bolts varies from 21.3 to 36.6 lbft depending on the grade (8.8 to 12.9). So 14 is below the minimum for the "softest" grade of steel.

    fuel pressure gen 1

Carbs run at low pressure, typically 3 psi so I don't expect that to be an issue.... but what is the flow rate for this pump? Any reason why you are not fitting the OEM pump?

    2004 fuel leak

I only mentioned it as small screws (add the brake and clutch reservoir cap screws to the list) that are likely to have some corrosion are easily chewed up using the wrong tool. Sure Phillips and pozi drive screwdrivers work, I've done that, but your best chance is to use JIS and press very...

Installing VBoost on a European model

I cannot comment about what occurred in any other European country except for UK but despite being available as a grey import from 1985, the Yamaha V-Max didn’t officially arrive in the UK until 1991. Furthermore, it wasn’t available in the full 143bhp format until 1996, which can be spotted...

So what's the other 10%? Interesting to see that elevated chainstays are making a comeback.

    Frame number

Another UK member - hello!! My immediate reaction was the welding looks bad so has the headstock been replaced ... but having compared it to mine, it could well be factory. I don't recognise the frame number format but I'm sure if it is legit, then someone will decode it. The engine should...

Any bicycle riders here? I bought one for $40, it is faster than V-max!!! 16 gears

Yes, but I spend my time off road. Looking at the head tube I can tell that the frame it is very large > 26 inches. By the lack of any visible seat post, if that is set up for you to ride, then it is much too large. A rough rule to selecting correct frame size for a road frame with a...

Need help with issue before purchasing Gen2

I'm sceptical. A quick search online shows the coolant capacity to be 3.75 litres. Using an online calculator for expansion of water, from 10 to 100 degrees works out to just under 4 cc. That would be less than the difference between the max and min marks on the reservoir. From the manual...

    EXHAUST help please

Like the man wearing orthopedic shoes, I stand corrected, the CBX had 6-2 pipes, the 6-6 seems to be aftermarket.

    EXHAUST help please

Yes Honda CB750 (and derivatives) had them, as well as the Kawasaki Z1. (the ultimate was the Cbx 1000 - 6 separate pipes) Somehow the CB wears them better, not sure if that is because they pipes 'split' earlier or due to the Vmax 's longer wheelbase. ' 68 sandacst vvvv

    Exhaust like a shotgun

^^^^ that can happen when the spark is missing or occurs at the wrong time - there is air/fuel mixture hanging around from not being ignited, along comes a spark and boom. I would suggest checking the wiring to the ignition coils and leads from the coils to the plugs are not crossed over. If...

    1200 running hot

Just gone back to your original post. That about 10% difference a idle. The important numbers are when under load. Are there any issues when riding? If not, then I'd say put the thermometer away and forget about it. If you start changing the mixture, you are in the realm of "messing with...
