    Slow '96 VMax??

Sounds like something is quite wrong. Even without Vboost, these IMO are fast bikes. Have you done a CR test? Do you know carbs are running correctly? It possible although I doubt it, the brakes are binding as you would see the disc glowing. Is the the fuel fitler clear and pump working - could...

    How much?!?!?!?

80 grand for this? Engine seized, incomplete and rusty o_O . It's difficult to put a value on as it is unique but unless it has provenance, like owned by T E Lawrance, asking price IMO is somewhat optimistic (by a factor of 100) here's the link if you want to bid...

    2nd Gen VMAX 2020 Vmax

Very nice. That must be one of the last to have left the production line. How many miles done?

    Slow '96 VMax??

I'm confused. What exactly do you mean by slow? Rpm/gear ratio/final drive ratio and tyre size determine speed. Those are more or less fixed. Fast or slow can also be used to describe how quickly a given speed can be reached. That can vary by rpm nd which gears are used

    Vmax running issue

According to the manual, the early models have a combined flasher relay and starter relay. The flasher unit has automatic cancelling so by fitting an after market unit you will lose that feature.... not a biiggie as long as you remember to turnthe flasher off. When you say the flasher relay is...

    Embarrasing drop moment

No broken bones = good. Bikes, boots etc can be repaired to be as new but not so the hunan body. Hopefully you'll heal soon. Wise move wearing protective gear. Doesn't matter how careful you are, accidents can happen so best to be dressed appropriately.

    New Ohio Member

I see that in lots of adverts and despite there being no reason to do it, it is after all in the public domain, I hid mine when I was selling my car. Over here we have an annual road worthiness test (call MOT) and it possible to see the history going back a few years on the UK gov website ...

    Front tire life.

+1.as Bob said, tyres are what stick you to the ground. Nearly all of us try to penny pinch but not fir tyres. IMO A car tyre on a motorcycle is folly.

Tach and 2 cylinders dead when hot

The fact it clears up after a power off/on would indicate to me it is an electrical component that runs erratically and is then reset after a power cycle. The vboost unit goes through an initialisation sequence and probably with the ignition unit. Before spending cash on an ignition unit...

    Carb questions

Access would be easier without them. I thought the plugs were to stop fuel entering the jets from the end of the jet block, the jet block having drilled holes so fuel flow through a predefined path.

    Front tire life.

Agreed, just throwing out some ideas. Do you have non standard forks, USD, which may be heavier than normal or carry a sack of bricks at the front? You would expect the front to be softer compound as you wouldn't want the front losing traction. One solution is to do a few burn outs to even...

Heavy braking? Fork/frame misalignment? T'is unusual I have to say.

Replacement fuel pump bracket swap pt2

The pump runs for around 5 seconds after the ignition is switched on and engine is not running. (a safety feature)

    Something is heating up

For the starter not to turn over would point to the starter/turn signal relay. The early models have a combined unit. It can be unplugged and bypassed (I forget the wire but have posted about this elsewhere recently). That would get you home but you lose the turn signals, no big deal if you...

    Starter clutch still not engaging

So to conclude, the starter clutch you purchased wS incorrect part. Obviously the diagram posted above is particularly detailed but the part looks to be symmetrical so no chance that it was fitted the wrong way round?

Very clean modded 2009 Gen 2

This advert was posted almost 3 years ago, the poster last active in 2020. IMO the chances that this is still available are low

Tach and 2 cylinders dead when hot

Dunno without further investigation. The manual states pick up coil resistance at 20 c. There probably is some variance in manufacturing. The OP's coil may be one at the top end of the resistance, factor in the temperature increase so would explain: Tested Pick up coil while hot and just a bit...

Tach and 2 cylinders dead when hot

Metals have a positive coefficient of resistance, ie the resistance increases with temperature. Household light bulb blow when switched on since a that moment their resistance is lowest drawing the larges current.

    Good bye your Majesty!

Indeed it's a sad day. Whilst not unexpected, still came as a surprise. Can't say a bad word against her unlike some members of the royal family. Queenie on a motorcycle (to keep it topical)
