    Oldsmobile

Thanks for the pics Kyle. Most of those older style cars are as rare as rocking horse **** here. People used to just leave old cars in the bush. I used to find them when I was a little kid riding my bike. I wish I could still find them. In fact, my grandpop used to buy old trucks and drive...

    Undesirable braking noise.

A pretty clever rider trainer said this to me. It makes sense. If you are stopping as fast as you possibly can, the bikes weight is transferred to the front wheel. The back wheel is either coming off the ground, or at least very light. So, if you are stopping as fast as you possibly can, you...

    NEW(old)TOY,/econ-o-box,anybody have experience with these?

I haven't got the Mazda, but I have got an Opel 4cyl convertible. It's a fantastic idea, because basically it just isn't worth modding them. Just have fun the way they are. It's not a race car!

    Interesting battery problem

It's copper oxide. Oxidisation and charge are bedmates. It's like gangrene, in that if you don't clean it all off it will come back, and the best way to kill it is by removing the oxygen. Vaseline works. Think of it like bare metal on a car, has to be sealed with paint, and you have to...

    fork brace really worth it??

When I blasted my std fork brace one corner fell off, and it had 2 more cracks in it! It was stuffed. Based on that, I can say that the fork brace is doing some work for sure, and that the std one isn't up to the task really. How much difference it makes, I don't know. Mine won't crack...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Thanks FM and KJ. Sounds like FM is saying I'll lose too much OD with a 17. I'd like to keep it close to original gearing. So maybe 18"... :ummm: I also want to investigate the possibility of re-lacing a virago wire front to a bigger rim. I think the rotor mounting is the same. *slips off...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Thanks guys. I was wondering why the universe would do this to me twice. Whoever is running this show should stop testing me. Friggin ass-hat. :damn angry: *shakes fist at the sky* Oh well, **** happens. The day she got knocked over I felt I had a breakthrough in the jetting. When I get...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Veronica got taken away on a truck. :bang head: The same thing happened about 4 years ago. This time a girl was turning, and I stopped behind her, waited a few seconds, and then she reversed into me. :damn angry: Last time it happened, the bike was written off and I had to go through all...

New guy to the forum with 1985 Barn Find

Good find! Can't wait to see pics. I don't know that there is much cheap horsepower available. Most of it costs money. If you have a nice '85 exhaust, I can tell you one thing that is very nice to do. There is a few threads no doubt on drilling out the rivets on the end of the cans to open...

    dodged a bullet

Good turn around time there FM! Glad you got it sorted so quick. I like your form! Forgive the devils advocate post I made. I will always point to the worst possibility when giving advise without having facts. It's better that you look at these things than end up posting another sad story...

    dodged a bullet

Bad luck mate! Broken cams usually keep it together for a while, so they keep turning and running when they break. What you have described sounds like the cam caps have been mixed up (or the head is bent - same result). Cams usually run a fair bit of clearance, and most people don't get...

    Bike won't start

I think you might want to start it with jumper leads attached to a truck battery. That will rule out voltage drop.
