2006 For Sale In North Carolina

Stage 3 is close to stage 7 but w/o the needles. I can't recall if stock needles remained or stage 1 were used. Stage 7 was defined as "full race" but can't remember if vboost eliminator tubes were included in that kit or if they were even needed to be truly considered stage 7. In my mind, true...

    Plug?

Check wires coming from starter relay. I don't believe it's fuel pump, sidestand switch or p/u coil.

    Wave rotors -front---EBC or Galfer?

Hand or pneumatic impact driver work well for me.

The removable piece on the airbox lid.

    Why remove the y

When doing this on a stock bike, you lose intake velocity and will run lean everywhere. Unplugging vboost can richen...depends on the changes in atomization as it's less consistent at low to mid range. It's fun but it's just over carburation and you get quick accel at small throttle openings but...

    Air Box Alternative

You don't have to. I did with stock since main jets are too rich in my neck of woods. 147.5's were perfect.

    Air Box Alternative

Morley's mod is probably most forgiving in that just a bit of needle tuning is needed. Using stage 7 needles makes it much easier; otherwise, probably need to increase main jet size significantly and shim needles. Next would be individual filter pods seen with a DJ stage 7 kit. Similar to...

    FJ1300 Goods / Bads

Only complaint I’ve heard was for first couple of years where riders legs would bake from engine heat. Yamaha took care of that later.

    Front Fork Leak

I bought one a few years ago but haven’t had to use it yet. No issues since replacing the stock springs with Racetech 12 years ago. Stock springs are junk and hard on oil seals. Replacing fork oil every two years and cleaning the insides are crucial too. All IMO. Mark

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Nothing too exciting. PO stripped the upper slave cylinder bolt and decided to rectify that and rebuild the slave while the the trans is getting repaired by Sean. What a pain….very few tools can fit between the engine casts and also reach deep enough into the recess. Eventually ended up using a...

    Steering race removal tool

Saw this one too, unfortunately won't work since there's nothing for the fingers to snap behind.

    Steering race removal tool

I saw that one too. It jams itself into the race itself and then you tap from above. Correct? I discounted it because it got bad reviews due to the tool not holding itself to the race when being tapped. OTC 4796

    Suppossed carb rebuild

I’d just replace the valve piece and not the entire assembly. I make sure carb cleaner can go in and out and blow out with compressed air. Never had to replace the entire assembly.

    Steering race removal tool

Just happened to see this on Amazon. I've seen another version but that didn't look like it would work since the spreaders were too thick to get between the face and shoulder. This one has ends that are only 1/32" but not sure if it would work or not. I usually use a dremel with diamond cutting...
