Front Fork Leak

The Sealmate has worked for me many times.

It's cheap and there is nothing to lose by trying it.

I bought one a few years ago but haven’t had to use it yet. No issues since replacing the stock springs with Racetech 12 years ago. Stock springs are junk and hard on oil seals. Replacing fork oil every two years and cleaning the insides are crucial too. All IMO.

Even just a little sheen of oil isn't good. It attracts dust and dirt. And dirt under the seals wears the tube surface.

I got the Seal Mate and it looks like the problem is solved! I did both forks and they are not leaving any oil residue. Will take the bike for a ride and see how that goes. Thanks for all the tips!

Is it just me thinking that you could make a similar device by cutting a piece of milk plastic carton to shape with a small slot to catch the dirt?

It'd be too thick, imo.

I've cut plastic from a flimsy water bottle...worked fine. Mimic the hooked end like the Sealmate.

A member on another forum uses the clear plastic packaging material, like the material in bubble pack, except a flat piece of it.

Back in the day, people used to say to use 35mm film negatives to do the same thing this seal mate does.
