Tachometer wires Test

I have finished cleaning and reassembling all carburetors. Bike started easily but as expected I need to adjust idle and synch the carbs. But tachometer is not working at all, I guess it worked for a little bit after I started the bike but stopped completely.
I have found a thread with the wires diagram and instructions on the Service manual.
I was wondering if someone could help me on wires test described on the manual since I haven't done it before.

You would check that you have power going to the unit (brown wire), continuity to earth (black wire) and continuity between the unit and ignition control module.
As far as I know you would need an oscilloscope to check that you are getting a signal from the ICU (but I may be talking rowlocks there).
