    Idle problem, need help please

Since you are not stating any other symptoms, I'd check fuel system pressure and replace fuel filter.

Gen 1 weak front wheel 'myth' ?

Nothing wrong with the wheel in it's stock undamaged form for any model yeal for 1st Gen. Early models prior to 1993 had weak front suspension and brakes which were beefed up that year.

Cannot get flywheel off 85 Vmax

8.8 is basic structural means. Upgrade the bolts to 12.9 and try again. Don't be gentle with the wrench.

Cannot get flywheel off 85 Vmax

What's the tensile grade of the three bolts? Six streak or above 10.9?

What oil to use, that is the question

I second Rotella as well. Excellent oil in a wet clutch bike, gasoline engine or a diesel.

    Throttle cables

Well, Custom length Harley Davidson cables with long core length adjusters might work. Or you could fabricate suitable ones yourself if you have tooling to stamp the ends. If not, you could try using screw-on cable ends from rc industry (remote control) or from karting.

Get an IR gun and check the exhaust temps.

    Clutch Problem - Vmax 1200 (1992)

That looks like clutch lever was operated at least once while pressure plate was not on so the slave cylinder is now zeroing in the wrong position. This system will work briefly without the ball bearing but the rotation of the push cap will wear out the end of the pushrod. If the pushrod is...

    Vmax MPG improvement

No no, all good here. I fully understand your points. Very good ones. I'd say we just have different approaches and we are discussing about them. Let's continue. All good.

    Whatcha Carrying?

I've been thinking about Walther PPQ 45ACP. Unused 2021 model. Does anyone have personal experience?

    Vmax MPG improvement

Engines like richer conditions by their nature than we want to provide. When I was a kid and older with carburated engines you had to learn the quirks. The quirks in general were how to richen the mixture temporarily in a nutshell. Piston engines are still the same, valves bring mixture in...

    Vmax MPG improvement

When tuned properly, carbs are better for the engine than fuel injection and less than 5 percent away from the benefit to the owners wallet. They keep the engines slightly richer, which the engines like but the society condemns. I'm not trying to sound old school but that's a fact.

Float level affects how your emulsion tubes work, how your throttle responds, the transition.

Cannot rev past 6500 RPM under load

That is a short somewhere. Could be a self weld bulb or something really weird. One time, roughly 5 years ago, a local Chevrolet dealer contacted me about a brand new Silverado they had in stock that nobody was able to get started. It took me 2 weeks and the reason was a perfect wire in a...

    Vmax MPG improvement

Mine does 7.0l/100km with numerous mods. 7.5 when I push it a lot. Basic tank size is ok.

    Vmax MPG improvement

I once adapted a modified V-Boost system to an old V8 car engine with 4 dual Weber downdrafts. It was a predecessor to T Boost, adjustable. Worked very well but was outlawed after first race.

    Vmax MPG improvement

When you turn the ignition on, you will hear electric buzzing going "up and down" along with fuel pump pulsing. After, engine running, bike stationary, you rev the engine past 6k and look into the slide between the carbs from either side. It should move up.

    Vmax MPG improvement

With OEM style equipment the only things to keep your MPG up is to keep it in top shape and carbs fully tuned, high tire pressure and good bearings, proper oil, friction control of rolling resistance. Bike and rider as lightweight as possible (loose anything else than veggies and water) and ride...
