    Battery removal???

Done all the advised stuff regarding removing a defunct battery. New one sitting awaiting to go. However, having great difficulty actually pulling the battery out. Disconnected everything and no obvious obstructions. It's almost as if the thing is glued in, or there's some sort of resistance...

    Horn & Battery drain ?

Once again this forum comes up with some solid suggestions. Thanks. I now need to go through the suggested checks, I have a meter available, and hope to report back.

    V Max Sidecar outfit

Hello again, Been a while since responding, however. The general look of the outfit is what a friend created, my modifications have been detail and somewhat unseen. The fairing, a Brit Avonaire from the 1950s, whilst very old school, has grown on us and is quite distinctive. Alternatives...

    Horn & Battery drain ?

Previously followed the thread on fitting alternative horn. Led to my fitting a very acceptably loud, budget horn. More than once it has gained the attention of myopic, cell phone idiots, so well satisfied. The fitting issue wasn't quite as dramatic as for other guys because due to the Max...

    V Max Sidecar outfit

Well, our Vmax sidecar outfit has now done 2000 miles in a few trips. Amendments include fitting LED running lights, plus suitable switching to eliminate the permanent lights on feature. The latter thanks to advice from a forum member. Also now have a manual switch for the cooling fan, an...

    One lucky guy

Gotta to be fake. Reason ? A proper motorcycle guy would run to see how his bike was, not the car !:eusa_dance:

    Disable permanent lights ?

Sorted some switches that appealed, plus now installed as per provided instructions. Thanks Miles. Utilised a new handlebar unit courtesy of a Chinese bike spare - arrow A. The kill switch turns off the low beam, whilst the main lights switch provides running lights on the first position, and...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Dry day at last, so able to fit running lights and various other electrical stuff, I.e. switches so that I can manually switch the fan on, plus turn off the lights. All possible thanks to great advice from this forum.

How To Remove Swingarm & Swap Differential

Have come to this thread late, but am very interested in this modification. Understand about the length difference between the standard shaft and the one off the Venture, but what would the objection be to retaining the original shaft ? Also, have all Ventures had the same drive ratio ?

    A Quiet Exhaust ??

Bending minds a little is something sidecars can do. We have been bending minds for over 40 years, along with other third wheel buddies and enthusiasts. The sidecar is a Squire RX4 suitably matched up to the Vmax. Images and stuff in a new topic soon.:ummm:

    A Quiet Exhaust ??

Really impressed with replies. Honesty and helpful in double quick time. Will certainly follow up on possible Yamaha alternatives, as well as Fire Medic's useful suggestion. Fully respect the differences between us all, goodness I've got a sidecar attached. However, I can assure you that our...

    A Quiet Exhaust ??

I fully appreciate this one will not sit well with some enthusiasts on the forum, but here goes. Our '07 bike was purchased with a 4 into 1 exhaust. Looks good, really sensible with the exhaust exiting on the opposite side to the sidecar mounted on the left (our choice). However, whilst the...

    Disable permanent lights ?

Thanks for responses so far. As for being seen, totally agree, even with the extra width of a sidecar rig partially sighted drivers will still ignore. However, additional loads on the electrics for extra lighting, etc can be an issue. I prefer using switchable LEDs that don't draw much on the...

    Disable permanent lights ?

Recently acquired late model Gen1. UK based but the lights set up is US with permanent lights on. Any information please on how to amend, so that I can decide when to light up ? Do appreciate there might be info already on the forum, but it's so comprehensive and searches have been fruitless.

    Brakes and Year ?

Thanks for the prompt replies. Already have braided lines, so that's good. Necessary test rides with our new baby in due course when the snow and ice decides to clear around our Yorkshire home.

    Brakes and Year ?

Recently acquired an 07 Vmax 1200 and trying to familiarise myself with issues that can enhance ownership. Reading through several topics have come across the issue of changes to the brakes. So, an initial question. Does my late model Gen1 have improvements that possibly eliminate the need to...

    V Max Sidecar outfit

Very much England, Yorkshire in fact. Sidecar correctly located for our location. Leading link forks appropriate for sidecar rig. Also, sidecar disc brake linked to bike's rear brake. Not obvious in posted images, also fitted with towing hitch. Other modifications on the agenda, mainly...

    V Max Sidecar outfit

Nothing novel about fitting a sidecar alongside the V Max, although clearly quite rare. However, it's our particular take on this aspect of motorcycling. Of course, totally accept that some will be shocked, dismayed, offended, puzzled, or some such. Do we care, not one bit, been doing such...

Are you a new member? Come here and say hi!

Hello Tom, No expert friend, so you may be correct. It's all down to the bike being first registered as new here in the UK. Possibly one that resided in a dealership, or warehouse some time after manufacture. Whatever, it's in superb condition, been regularly serviced and generally cared for.

Are you a new member? Come here and say hi!

Hello Guys, Just a brief intro at this stage as I've yet to collect the new acquisition. Something different in that our 2008 version of 1200 Vmax has a sidecar attached. More information in due course, but we can't wait. http://www.sidecarjohn.co.uk
