Οld Starvmax forum Gen 2 FXteen, No Μax, Κodiak, Tim and the others bad company which is lost???

As far as I know, the Starvmax forum is completely gone. It’s frustrating because I would have happily taken its database and run it on my hardware.

Does synthetic oil cause slipping clutch?

I use Amsoil Dominator 15W50 (it's marketed as race oil but it works really well in motorcycle engine / transmissions--shifts nicely and seems to lubricate well as oil analyses come back good) in my gen2 with a Guru flash and the double D clutch mod. No slipping. Hell, the bike will loft the...

    Gen 2 SpeedoHealer Install Help

I'm curious to see how this pans out. People had previously asked the Guru to fix the speedo in his tune, but if I recall correctly, he didn't want to because there was some issue with the speed display also affecting other parts of the tune.

Is the 2020 Vmax governed at 135 or is that its actual top speed?

Top speed with the limiter removed is redline in top gear, which works out to about 170mph, indicated. Personally verified.

2017 VMAX OFF TO THE TRACK (NOT STRIP)

I strongly question your choice of Battlax for a track day. They are much less grippy than the Verges, meaning that even if they’ll tolerate you getting to max lean, there’s far less of a safety net should you do something that requires extra traction, like trail braking, accelerating, or...

    Lithium battery

To the best of my understanding, lithium ion batteries like to be between 20-80% charge, and have a long-term reduction in capacity if kept outside of that range. I am not sure if LiFePo4 batteries are the same, though. It's lead acid batteries that like to live at 100% charge.

    Wave rotors -front---EBC or Galfer?

I'd be more inclined to trust the rotors, since they're simple metal components and unlikely to spontaneously fail spectacularly. A master cylinder, though.. who knows what could go wrong internally when you're in an emergency situation (or even just in a regular stopping scenario).

    Wave rotors -front---EBC or Galfer?

What's your impression of the Chinese rotors? I've always assumed that they were inferior.

    Weight savings

I should still have the factory battery from my '14 sitting around my garage. I replaced it.. last year.. and I'm sure I didn't recycle it. So if I can find it and weigh it, that'll help settle some sort of argument?

Parts For Sale Gen 2 OEM Parts For Sale

Curious to see if someone actually buys the stock exhaust. The mufflers, I can see. The catalytic converter? That I'd be surprised about. (Unless there are enough precious metals in there to make selling it for scrap worthwhile.)

    Cobra Pipes and jetting.

My first Vmax, a '98, had Cobras with punched out baffles. They were ear-bleedingly loud. IIRC, I replaced them with stock mufflers, which I drilled five holes in each exit area for more noise. I don't recall there being a significant change in performance (improvement or otherwise) going...

    Tires to old?

I'm far less concerned about blowouts and much more concerned about lack of grip in old tires. Lock up the front tire while braking hard, and your ass is on the pavement, instantly. (I've heard people imply that you can recover from a locked up front tire by just releasing the brake, but the...

    Issues after flash.

It’s funny seeing people complain about soft light throttle response. I actually sent my ECU back to Tim to have him dial back the throttle response even more, and then I switched to an even softer throttle cam. I’d actually like it even a little softer.. when cruising along at 4000+ RPM on the...

Installed new battery; now when I hit the starter button, everything goes dark

The BMS is supposed to trigger when the voltage gets too low, and yes there is a button to reset it on the battery tender pigtail, which I have hooked up. When I turn the key off and back on, everything lights up normally with no need to press the reset button. During my testing today, after...

Installed new battery; now when I hit the starter button, everything goes dark

So, I reached out to Deltran, and this is the reply I got: My reply: Has anyone else used a Battery Tender battery in a Gen2 successfully? What other lithium ion batteries have people used with good results, if I decide to move away from the Battery Tender battery?

Installed new battery; now when I hit the starter button, everything goes dark

I'm gonna double check over the weekend, but I remember everything going back together pretty easily and without trouble.

Installed new battery; now when I hit the starter button, everything goes dark

Yes, all of the lights go out--gauges, headlight, turn signals, brake light--and it stays dark until I turn the key off and back on again. The bike cranks normally on a cold start. The only thing I've changed is the battery, and the bike didn't do this before changing the battery.

Installed new battery; now when I hit the starter button, everything goes dark

My '14's factory battery was about toast, so I bought and installed a new Battery Tender lithium battery at the beginning of July. Didn't even test ride the Vmax until mid August. (I have other bikes that I've been riding.) I fired it up for the first time since installing the battery and it...

    Oil light on under acceleration

I too would put about 4 quarts in both of my 1st gens--that kept the oil light from coming on. Never had any issues related to overfilling.

Gen2 weeping from top of differential

Will do. Thinking back, I bet I did the differential fluid change with the bike on a stand.. which would have kept it properly centered upright, but which would have also made it tilted forward slightly, so I probably overfilled it.
